Mark Dube

A quick walk among the tables found Mark Dube hosting an impressive castle as the field heads towards the break and the eventual money bubble. The two-time SHRPO champ is up to 423,000 and looks like the current leader.

With 63 players remaining, the money bubble will hit after the next break and the night should wrap up before they have another.

John Magnetta

SHRP regular John Magnetta did his part to get Flight A down to nine tables. He opened the action and his opponent on the button shoved for 37,500. The blinds folded and Magnetta quickly called.

Magnetta: KcKd
Button: Ac8h

Magnetta was looking good with the kings but his opponent his trip aces on the AsAh5d flop. It was merely a speed bump for Magnetta because he nailed the two-out Ks turn on the river to make a boat. The 7h river finished the board, he faded his opponent making a bigger boat, and his stack moved up to 172,000.

Cord Garcia

The dinner break is complete and action is back underway for Flight A of the Monster Stack. We had a few more entries during the dinner break including WSOP Colossus champ Cord Garcia and two-time WSOP Circuit winner Zachary Mullennix at the last moment.

They combined to push the Flight A entry count up to 303, good enough to put the prize pool up to $99,990. That means we only need one entry in Flight B to surpass the $100,000 guaranteed prize pool and we feel pretty confident it will get there.

The last 46 players in Flight A (15% rounding up) will make the money and action will stop for the evening when the field reaches 25 players remaining.

We found some more regulars in the game including Francis Margaglione and Jack Shea seated next to each other. Margaglione has a handful of SHRP wins and Shea has two WSOP Circuit Main Event final table results, one in Hollywood and one right here.

Irene Carey

There’s been very little slowdown in the number of players entering (or re-entering in some cases) and the entry count is up to 278 with 304 needed to make the $100,000 guaranteed prize pool. It now looks like it might get there in the first flight with nearly two hours left to register.

Irene Carey is one of the recent entries after she went big for her first visit. The California grinder earned her first WSOP Circuit ring in August when she won the 443-entry $400 No Limit Hold’em tournament during the Global Casino Championship series. Last night she made the final table of our $400 Double Stack Turbo but fell short of her second ring, going out in fourth place.

Mark Amaral

We are back underway in Flight A of the Monster Stack with another dozen or so players joining during the break. They are making a push to hit the $100,000 Guarantee in the first flight, if they don’t get there it will happen early tomorrow.

There’s is a new big stack in the room and it is another one of our visitors. Mark Amaral is with us this week from the New England area and he is leading the Monster Stack field so far with 145,900 after eight levels. Amaral is coming off some WSOP Circuit success; he earned his first ring a few weeks ago in the Foxwoods $400 Turbo.

Willie Wiggins, former SHRP champion, joins the Flight A field

Flight A has yet to reach the second level of the day and the field already topped the count from last September’s Monster Stack. That’s a great start to the tournament and the $100,000 guaranteed prize pool should be crossed very early tomorrow.

Johann Tieman (left) and David Dibernardi (right)

The entry count continues to climb and it crossed over 200 entries before the end of Level 16. They are about halfway into the registration period and it nearly a sure-fire lock that it will top the 241 entries from Flight A of last year’s tournament.

There are plenty of top players here this afternoon with a lot of success. One table in the back of the room includes Evan Teitelbaum, November Niner Neil Blumenfield, Johann Tiemann, and David Dibernardi.

Tiemann went deep in the first multi-flight tournament of the series, finishing 36th out of 1,189 entries in Event 2. Dibernardi went really deep in that tournament last February, winning it all over 1,607 entries.
