Monster Stack Day 1B: Hitting the Guarantee

$400 Monster Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 1: 100/100

Flight B of the WSOP Circuit Monster Stack is ready to go in The Pavilion and it is a foregone conclusion that the $400 buy-in tournament will hit its $100,000 guaranteed prize pool. Flight A drew 303 entries with 304 needed to make the mark and a satellite winner overnight pushed Flight B there.

That means once cards go in the air, the Monster Stack prize pool will climb into six-digit territory and continue climbing until registration closes.

Monster Stack players sit down to 30,000 out front and the first 24 levels last 30 minutes each. They increase to 45-minutes starting with Level 25 and continue that way for the duration. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 13 at 6:05 pm after a 45-minute dinner break.

Action gets back underway at 11 am and we will provide updates all day long.

Mark Dube

Flight A has come to an end with 11:13 remaining in Level 21 and the last 25 players have advanced to Day 2 on Thursday at 1 pm. They will be joined by the survivors of Flight B to play it down to the next WSOP Circuit champion.

Mark Dube was leading as they headed toward the bubble and went even bigger after. He put an incredible 1,394,000 in his bag for Day 2 and he’ll be tough to catch tomorrow. Neil Blumenfield was the second biggest at 764,000 with Sterling Savill (640,000), Scott Baumstein (629,000), and Fred White (457,000) rounding out the top five.

We will post the complete list of chips counts as soon as they are available.

Level 20 came to an end and we still have 30 players in Flight A, each trying to earn one of the 25 spots that will advance. This is last break of the day, if somehow it does not get to 25 players in the next four levels, those will be the ones to bag up.

32nd: Jacob Naumann – $597
33rd: Ken Walter – $597

Marshall White

Things took off once the money bubble was burst and 10 players were paid out over the next half of a level. That dropped the field to the last four tables with the next milestone coming when 25 remain.

Four-time WSOP Circuit winner Marshall White and three-time winner Janet Fitzgerald were among the first group to cash but fall short of Day 2. They still have another chance; players can still play Flight B if they cashed today but did not advance.

37th: Joseph Casella – $555
38th: Marshall White$555
39th: Janet Fitzgerald – $555
40th: Alan Throw – $555
41st: Michael Goldfarb – $555

Monster Stack Day 1A: Mark Dube Bursts the Long Bubble

Level 19: 4,000/8,000 with a 8,000 ante
Flight A Players Remaining: 46 of 303

Mark Dube

The money bubble was a long process, taking 10 hands and 20 minutes (tournament clock time, not real, actual time) to get there. While they were working towards the bubble, Neil Blumenfield temporarily took the chip lead with +600,000 after pulling a 300K pot against Janet Fitzgerald.

Then the big hand went down. Mark Dube called an opponent’s 22,000 open and the flop came QdJd8c. His opponent checked, Dube bet 22,000 and his opponent moved all in for ~170,000. There was no official count of the stack because Dube instantly called.

Dube: QhJh – two pair, queens and jacks
Opponent: [hs]Ts – middle pair, gutshot draw

Dube’s opponent picked up an open-ended straight draw on the Kh turn but Dube filled his boat up on the Qc river to send him out while putting the rest of the field in the money. He is now over 800,000 and way out front of the rest.

With 47 players remaining and 46 getting paid, tournament staff paused the clock to begin the bubble process. The field is now in hand-for-hand mode and will continue that way until one player is eliminated with two minutes coming off the clock for each hand dealt.

Russell Sullivan

The pace slowed considerably after the last break and only six players were eliminated in the first level back. We didn’t expect to hit another break before closing for the evening but that is back in play.

Mark Dube continues to lead with more than 550,000 but two-time WSOP Circuit winner Russell Sullivan is doing his best to catch him with his 460,000.

Monster Stack Day 1A: Back from Last Break

$400 Monster Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 17: 2,500/5,000 with a 5,000 ante
Flight A Players Remaining: 57 of 303

Players returned from another break with 57 players remaining to leave them only 10 eliminations from the money bubble. That was likely the last break of the days because the field should hit 25 somewhere before four levels are complete.
