Mike Cervantes

Players returned to their seats and cards are back in the air. The field is closing in on 200 entries with plenty of time to build it up and they are on pace to top last year’s numbers.

While they were gone, we found a few big stacks in the room but none could match Mike Cervantes. He ran his 30,000 starting stack up to 93,900 in four levels to pace the field for the early lead on Day 1A. He also has some nice, recent history in this tournament, but from afar. Cervantes played the WSOP Circuit at Thunder Valley in California, entered their Monster Stack tournament and finished third out of 500 entries for nearly $15,000.

Marsha Wolak

Flight A of the Monster Stack is heading towards its first break of the day and we have a steady stream of players joining the fun. The entry count is up to 168 for an easy path to the $100,000 Guarantee.

We found a bit of a South Florida poker celeb in today’s field. Marsha Wolak made a name in the poker world back in 2011 when she captured the WSOP Ladies Championship bracelet and she is a great representative for the game. She recently moved back to the Sunshine State and we welcome her back.

Zachary Mullennix

The Monster Stack is cruising along on a Tuesday morning and heading into the afternoon. The 108 entries in Flight A so far is a good turnout and we expect plenty more with late registration open until 6:05 pm.

Two recent champions took a seat in the early levels. Zachary Mullennix earned picked up his second WSOP Circuit ring in back-to-back series after capturing the $1,125 NLH title yesterday afternoon.

Harjinder Chawla won his first WSOP Circuit ring on Sunday and it was a big one. Event 2 was the first multi-flight tournament of the series, it drew 1,189 entries, and Chawla outlasted them all to take the title along with $65,832.

Today we have one of the more popular tournaments on any WSOP Circuit schedule, the $400 Monster Stack. Event 6 features a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool, two starting flights, and a whole mess of chips.

Players will start out with 30,000 monster stacks and play 30-minute levels to start the tournament. Blind levels will increase to 45-minutes each at the start of Level 25. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until 6:05 pm after the dinner break.

Each flight will pay 15% of the starting field and Day 1 will come to an end when it reaches 8% of the field or the end of Level 24.
