We’re moving right along here, it doesn’t take very long with some matches finishing up a few hands. All first round matches are complete, second round matches are underway, and some have already moved on.
Seven players booked their spot in the third round including defending champ Howard Mash and Charlemagne Benjamin dispatching their opponents in only three hands. Others advancing were Elliot Zaydman, David Nefzger, John Holly, Jorge Gomez, and Frank Giordano.

Today’s schedule brings up one of the more popular games on the Coco Poker Open schedule, the Heads-Up tournament where they’ll go one-on-one the entire day.
Event 9 has a $360 buy-in with a $20,000 guaranteed prize pool and a cap at 64 players. In order to win a Coco Poker Open title, all they have to do is win six straight heads-up matches for the glory. The first four rounds will have 15-minute blinds, then they’ll increase to 20-minutes for the Semifinal and Championship matches.
Registration will close at noon and tournament staff will release the first round of matches to get underway at 12:15pm. The bracket will be posted as soon as it is official.

Coconut Creek, Fla. (January 31, 2016) — Mike Goldenberg won Event 9 of the Coco Poker Showdown shorly before midnight Saturday. The crowning achievement came in a $130 pot limit Omaha/no limit hold’em tournament and saw Goldenberg earn $2,380 following a four-way, ICM chop.
Goldenberg is 50 years old and resides in Boca Raton, Fla. He is a regular of the room, but this victory marks his first major tournament win. It came at the hands of a tested final table that included Joseph Patalano (9th) and Miguel Martinez (7th).
Following the win, Goldenberg owns four tournament cashes totaling just under $10,000.

Tonight’s 6 p.m. $130 pot limit Omaha/no limit hold’em tournament drew a field of 53 entries. The $10,000 prize pool pays the top nine players at least $250. The tournament’s winner, meanwhile, scores $3,500.

The clock strikes 6 p.m. and the ninth and final event of the Coco Poker Showdown is off and running. Players begin the $130 pot limit Omaha/no limit hold’em tournament with 10,000-chip starting stacks and log 20-minute levels throughout. Late registration/unlimited re-entry is available until the start of Level 10. This tournament is structured as a one-day event and it’s expected to conclude during the early morning hours of Sunday.

It’s Championship Saturday at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek in Coconut Creek, Fla. The $1,100 #CocoPokerShowdown Championship featuring a $100,000 guarantee and 20,000-chip starting stack is set to steal the show on Day 10 of the 11-day series.
Joining the finale on the Day 10 schedule are Day 2 of Event 6 at noon and the kickoff of the ninth and final event at 6 p.m.

The 2015 Coco Poker Open Championship was the big event on the two week schedule and attracted players from around the world. There were 410 entrants for the tournament this year and it was Hard Rock Poker ambassador Matt Affleck taking the title along with the $264,000 prize money.
The Championship event featured three starting flights and the surviving players after ten levels returned for Day 2 on Sunday. It was a long day and they didn’t hit the money with 45 players remaining until after the dinner break. From there it moved quickly and the field was ready to move on to the last day of the Championship.
Local pro Chance Kornuth finished strong on Day 2 and came to the final day with a big chip lead over the remaining 27 players. That’s where the good news ended for Kornuth, nothing went his way on Monday and he was eliminated in 12th place.
The final table ten were joined as one when 2014 Coco Poker Open Champion John Dolan went out in 11th, a great result for the former WSOP November Niner. Seminole Hard Rock Poker ambassador Michael Laake went out in 10th and the final table was moved into the high limit room.
They quickly played down until just three players were around and each guaranteed at least $100,000 with Affleck holding a commanding lead. Each had top results in their past but only one would earn the title. Cord Garcia, 2015 WSOP Colossus Champion, went out in 3rd place and Gaspard lasted only a few hands before Affleck sent him out in 2nd.
The Championship trophy belonged to Affleck along with the $264,000 payday, the second largest of his career behind his 15th place result in the 2010 WSOP Main Event.
