Kammar Andries came out of nowhere last February to become an unlikely champion in the February 2018 Coco WSOP Circuit Main Event. After several four-digit cashes, he won the Main Event for more than $240K and a nice bankroll boost for the poker amateur. Andries backed up that title today when he conquered the $400 Double Stack Turbo tournament for his second WSOPC ring.

The fast-paced tournament attracted 188 entries and it more than doubled its $30,000 guaranteed prize pool. They combined to put $62,040 in the pool and, as one would expect in a turbo, they quickly hit the money after the dinner break.

Andries nearly gave away the tournament once it reached the final table. Wearing his headphones, he live-misclick called a shove and lost the majority of his stack. Andries was facing some tough competition with his shorter stack including former SHRP champions Ory Hen, Zoltan Czinkota, and Carlos Loving.

Andries regained the lead late and caught aces when he was heads-up with Loving to earn the title. He took home $16,131 for the victory, his second biggest score behind only the $241,000 he won last year in the WSOPC Main Event, and he now owns a second ring.

A few hands into the heads-up match, Kammar Andries limped his button and Carlos Loving checked to see a flop. Loving checked, Andries bet 150,000 and Loving check-raised all in for 915,000 to get a quick call.

Loving was in trouble with middle pair against the rockets, picked up a flush draw on the turn, but the river ended the tournament with Andries earning his second WSOPC ring.

Everything is set, the WSOPC ring is on the table, and the heads-up match for the title is underway with Kammar Andries in the lead.

Once the floodgates were opened, the eliminations came at a steady stream until the tournament went heads-up between Kammar Andries and Carlos Loving. SHRP regulars Zoltan Czinkota and Ory Hen went out in back-to-back hands followed by Gary Thill a short time later.

That set the heads-up match between Loving and Andries, both looking for another major SHRP title.

Ory Hen open-shoved for 1,100,000 and it folded to Rodney Tullock in the big blind.

“Take your time sir,” Zoltan Czinkota joked. “Hurry up!”

That got a laugh and then a call from Tullock for his last 370,000.

Tullock needed to hit but it was Hen improving on the flop. Tullock had an open-ended straight draw but blanked the turn and river to exit in sixth place.

The turbo event lost two quick players at the final table when Obdulio Melo and David Nowling hit the payout desk and then the last seven players settled in for a long grind. They played more than an hour of seven-handed poker until the average stack hit ten big blinds.

There were a lot of shoves but everything was getting through until Michael Azzaro open-shoved for 545,000. Kamar Andries thought for a few minutes and called in the big blind for his 550,000 stack.

Azzaro was ahead with the small pair, faded the flop, but Andries added a lot of outs. The turn put the Coco WSOPC Main Event champ in the lead and Azzaro was eliminated to break the stalemate.

The $400 Double Stack turbo was on the verge of setting the ten-handed final table then lost a player on each table. David Shmuel was eliminated in 11th place to prompt tournament staff to get ready to pause the clock when Andrew Daire was sent on in tenth place on the other table.

That leaves nine players remaining with a chance for the ring with some South Florida wizards including Zoltan Czinkota, Carlos Loving, David Nowling, former SHRP Player of the Year Ory Hen, and defending WSOP Circuit Main Event champion Kammar Andries.

Registration is closed in today’s 11am one-day $400 buy-in double stack turbo ring event and the field is final. A total of 188 entries generated a prize pool $62,040 — more than double the $30,000 guarantee. The final 21 players are slated to finish in the money with a min-cash worth $687. Payouts escalate from there and top out in the form of a $16,131 first prize. In addition, the tournament’s champion will earn a gold ring.
