Level 5: 200/400 with a 50 ante

Ian O’Hara

Coco Poker Open Championship winner Ian O’Hara is back at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek and looks to record another title. O’Hara, a 23-year-old professional poker player from Boca Raton, defeated a field of 331 entries in the $3,500 Championship last September pocketing $212,830 and a $5,250 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship in the process.

The victory also moved him to the top of the SHRP Player of the Year race, a 10-tournament contest that he currently sits second in. If he’s able to record a follow-up cash and fade any other deep runs from other POY contenders, O’Hara will take the lead in the prestigious contest.

O’Hara is one of the most recent entries in the Coco Poker Showdown and sits at about starting stack.

Ian O’Hara – 23,000

Miguel Martinez

Seminole Casino Coconut Creek regular Miguel Martinez opened from early position for 1,200. It folded around to the small blind who moved all in for 7,200. Martinez casually called and the hands were flipped up.

Martinez: AsTs
Small blind: KdQd

Runout: Js5d4hAcAh

Martinez improved to trips and busted the small blind. Martinez raked a pot that put his stack at just under 70,000.

Level 4: 150/300 with a 25 ante

Neil Blumenfield

The clock shows 136 entries midway through Level 4. That number has already surpassed the tournament’s $100,000 guarantee and sees the prize pool sitting at an unofficial $136,000. Among those in the action are 2015 World Series of Poker Main Event third-place finisher Neil Blumenfield.

Despite pocketing nearly $3,400,000 for the deep run, Blumenfield is not shy to play low or medium buy-ins. He finished fifth in the Coco Poker Showdown $350 yesterday earning $2,293.

Championship: Reigning SHRP POY Prociak Short to Start Level 4

David Prociak

Reigning Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the Year David Prociak holds 6,500 chips to start Level 4. On the last hand of Level 3, Prociak was in a heads-up pot with a board of Qc5d4c3h2d. Prociak bet and his opponent shoved for 13,500. Prociak called and the opponent flipped over 6h3s for a six-high straight. Prociak’s hand hit the muck and he sent a double-up across the table.

As the 2016 SHRP Player of the Year, David Prociak earned a free entry into each of the 10 SHRP Championships. This still marks entry number one in Coconut Creek, so he’s short, but freerolling.

David Prociak – 6,500

Championship: Shah Surrenders One

Level 3: 100/200
Entries:117

Sean Shah

Sean Shah, who won Event 6 outright yesterday for $11,355, was facing a raised to 500 from middle position. He three-bet, making it 1,300 to go. A late-position player called as did the original raiser. They were three-handed.

Flop: AcQh4s

The original raiser checked. Shah bet 2,000 and the player behind called. It was back on the original raiser who also called. They were still three-handed.

Turn: AcQh4s2c

The original raiser checked as did Shah. The late-position player bet 3,000. The original raiser folded and Shah called. They were heads up.

River: AcQh4s2c8s

Both players checked. The player in position tabled first, showing AdKd for top-top. Shah flashed the As and his cards hit the muck. The hand put him a bit below starting stack.

Sean Shah – 21,500

Championship: An Early Trip to the Rail for Newman

$1,100 Coco Poker Showdown Championship
Level 2: 75/150
Entries:109

Michael Newman

There was a middle-position limp, a late-position raise to 1,300 and a call. Action was on Michael Newman in the small blind. Newman was recently crippled, owned just about 2,000 chips. He jammed and all three players called.

After some side pot action trimmed the field, Newman was at risk against just one opponent.

Opponent: KsJh
Newman: As2h

Flop: Jd8d6c

Newman didn’t improve on the 5c turn or 5h river and his ace-high officially eliminated.

Per the structure sheet, the Coco Poker Showdown Championship permits unlimited re-entry through the start of Level 10. With that, Newman is already back in action with a 25,000-chip starting stack. Already owning three Seminole titles, Newman is in search of additional South Florida success.

Michael Newman – 25,000

Mike Graffeo

Fresh off a major tournament victory and $290,000 score in the Seminole Hard Rock Lucky Hearts Poker Open WPTDeepStacks Main Event is Boca Raton’s Mike Graffeo. Graffeo bested a tough field in Hollywood officially earning $290,687 along with a $3,000 WPTDeepStacks package and $5,250 seat in the Seminole Hard Rock Poke Open Championship this August.

The Brooklyn native is no stranger to the felt, but took a hiatus for a few years to spend more time with his children. He recently relocated to South Florida and hopes to play more events now that he’s within close proximity to plenty of options. The victory in Hollywood was the first tournament he’d played in two months and he wasted little time getting back in the action following the win.

He’s among the early field here in Coconut Creek and looks to earn additional points in the SHRP Player of the Year race.
