Charles Odenz

The money bubble in Flight A took a lot longer than anticipated but it almost ended on the first hand. Right out of the gates, Charles Odenz open-shoved for 23,000 from under the gun and the big blind called to put him at risk.

Odenz: QdQc
Big Blind: KsQs

Odenz was in great shape for a bubble double but the KcKd9d gave his opponent trip kings for the lead. Odenz began getting out of his seat when the 4d hit the turn and he sat right back down with the 3d filled his flush for a double.

Then Flight A settled in for a long grind. There were a few small double ups including one short stack player getting aces twice in three hands.

It took 11 full hands to get there and it was a tough beat. The same player with double aces picked up queens and shipped in for 33,000. Larry Kang called next to act and they waited for the rest of the tables to finish their action.

Larry Kang

Kang: KhKc
Opponent: QsQc

Kang was looking good but his opponent made a set on the QhJc9s flop. The table thought it would be another double until the dealer put the Kc turn to put Kang’s set of kings back out front. The river Ah finished the board to burst the bubble.

Johann Tiemann

We missed the action but we heard the reaction. After a little rundown from the of the table, we found Johann Tiemann sitting with a huge castle of chips worth 132,800.

He sent two players out, including Stuart Greenbaum who seems to have made a big shove on the river. Tiemann’s massive call with big slick and his ace-high was good enough to put him in the late lead.

Tiemann has a nice run of cashes over the last few months including a $55K score in the Hollywood Escalator series, two cashes during their Deep Stack Poker Series, and a deep run in the monster-field WSOP Big 50 tournament this summer.

Abbey Daniels

SHRP regular Abbey Daniels made a long run into the day but fell short after some bad luck. She lost most of her stack when her pocket aces were cracked by pocket jacks and the unfortunate runner-runner straight.

She was down to 9,500 and moved all in from middle position. The small blind woke up with a hand and she needed a lot of help with Ac9d versus AhQh. Any thought of a comeback quickly went away after the QsJh3h flop. Daniels was drawing dead after the 7d turn and promised to return tomorrow.

Daniels has earned more than $700,000 in her career including a WPT Showdown televised final table in Hollywood and a WPT Regional tournament win here in 2012.
