Nancy Birnbaum and Buddy

Players are waking up and making their way to the Poker Room and we have a steady parade entering the field. We are ahead of the pace set yesterday that ended with 200 entries so we’re going to tease doubling the $100,000 guarantee before the end of the day.

Nancy Birnbaum and Jeffrey Silverstein are part of the early crowd and they have their constant companions with them. Buddy and Rebuy are chilling with their puppy parents while they try to spin up a stack.

Event 1 Day 1B: Guarantee Gone

$400 Super Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 3:  100/200 with a 200 ante
Day 1B Entries:  108

There was little suspense in the matter; the RunGood Poker Series Super Stack opening event officially surpassed the $100,000 guarantee when today’s entry count in 108 before the first hour was up.

With more than three and a half hours remaining to register, that number is going to get much bigger today and a massive turnout is expected on Saturday.

Event 1 Day 1B: Mark Cannon Going for Two

$400 Super Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 2:  100/100 with a 100 ante
Day 1B Entries:  100

Mark Cannon

The entry count hit an even 100 before the end of Level 2 and we are only a handful of new players away from hitting the $100,000 guarantee. We’re seeing more people take the elevator up to the Poker Room and it should not take long to hit the number.

Mark Cannon is one of those entries even though he already has a bag for Day 2. In the best-stack-forward format, players may enter any or all of the three starting flights and advance multiple stacks. They will receive a min-cash for their smaller bag(s) and their biggest stack will go into play for Day 2.

Cannon moved on to Day 2 last night but with only 24,000 to work with, he taking another shot for a bigger bag and min-cash for his 24K.

James Salmon made a late charge and bagged the biggest stack with 549,000. He took the lead over Carlos Rojas who put 447,000 away for Day 2 with Loni Harwood, Errol Massey, Charles Odenz, Mark Cannon, and Skip McDonough also making it through.

Event 1 Day 1A: Chad Summers Burst the Long Bubble

$400 Super Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 17:  3,000/6,000 with a 6,000 ante
Day 1A Players Remaining:  25 of 200

Chad Summers

Flight A reached the money bubble before the start of Level 17 and it lasted the entire level, two minutes at a time. It took 20 rounds of hand-for-hand action before they lost a player.

Before that happened, James Salmon and Todd Nery played a huge pot. The flop was AhTc3d, Nery bet 14,000 and Salmon called. Nery checked the 8s turn, Salmon bet 39,000 and Nery called. The river came As and Nery checked. Salmon bet out 140,000 and Nery called after a minute to think it out.

“Ace jack,” Nery said and showed for trip aces AcJs but Salmon quickly flipped over Ad8c for a full house aces full of eights. A tough cooler for Nery but he was still in the game with 47,000 behind.

A few hands later in a five-way limped pot, a player moved all in for 71,000 after the Ks4c2s flop. Chad Summers called and the rest of the players folded.

Summers tabled 2d2c for a set of deuces against KcJc against top pair jack kicker. The Ah turn and 6s river finished the board to send the short stack out while putting the rest in the money and on their way to Day 2.

Event 1 Day 1A: Down to Three Tables

$100,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 16:  3,000/5,000 with a 5,000 ante
Day 1A Players Remaining:  27 of 200

Julio Ruiz

Flight A is down to the last three tables with 27 players remaining and 25 advancing to Day 2. They will go hand-for-hand with one more elimination and stay that way until the night comes to an end.

Julio Ruiz helped get them there when he woke up with AhKd in the small blind after the button shoved for 50,000 holding 5s5d. There was an ace in the window when the board ran out Ac4d3h7s8c to send one out and put Ruiz on 173,000.
