Kunal Patel

Kunal Patel was in late position and bumped it up to 55,000. Glenn Becker came along from the small blind and Matthew Smith from the big. They saw a Js6c4c flop three-handed. It checked to Patel and he bet 85,000. Becker check-raised, making it 240,000 to go. Smith folded. Patel three-bet shoved for 252,000 on top. Becker called and Patel was in good shape to double.

Patel: QcQd for an overpair
Becker: QsJd for top pair with a queen kicker

The turn fell the 4d and river the Kc. Patel’s overpair held and he doubled through Becker.

Action folded to Ian O’Hara on the button and he asked Ivan Starostin to lift his hands so O’Hara could get a peek at his short stack. O’Hara then raised to 50,000, Chad Bradbury released his small blind, and Starostin moved all-in for 185,000.

O’Hara quickly called with Ac9c and Starostin was looking good with KcKs. The 9s9h2c flop changed all that and trip nines were good as the board ran out 3dJs to send Starostin out in 9th place.

Wolak was in middle position and open-shoved for 323,000. Kunal Patel was on her direct left and called. The remaining players to act folded and Wolak was racing for her tournament life with AdQh against the TsTh of Patel.

A Qs8h5h flop paired Wolak and caused her to jump from her chair in the celebration. She faded the 7s turn and 4s river and doubled yet again.

Tournament staff counted down the stacks and Wolak had Balzano covered 235,000 to 213,000. Balzano hit the payout desk in 11th place and they are redrawing the last ten players for the final table.
