Alan Katsnelson wins Event 1

(Coconut Creek, FL) – The 2019 September WSOP Circuit Coco series kicked off with a big one-day ring event on the opening day. The $400 buy-in No Limit Hold’em tournament easily beat its $50,000 guaranteed prize pool and local Alan Katsnelson walked away with the biggest prize along with his first WSOP Circuit ring.

Event 1 drew 199 entries to slide past the guarantee and put $65,670 up for grabs. The last 30 players were set to earn some money and the field hit the money shortly after the dinner break.

The tournament cruised along and they were soon down to the final table ten with Katsnelson firmly in the middle of the pack while Vigorn Dancharnjitt held a big lead.

SHRP regulars Nagui Yassa and Richard Whitebrook were two quick exits from the final table followed by Tom Bielecky and Marcelo Garzozi. Former SHRPO champ Neal Corcoran dropped in sixth place and Brandom Miller was unlucky to exit in fifth.

Reigning WSOP Seniors Champion Howard Mash made a great run but had to settle for fourth place. After a short color up break, Nicholas Visconti dropped in third place to set up the heads-up battle. Katsnelson had a small chip deficit against the former big chip lead but that did not last long.

After two big hands, Katsnelson held all the chips and scored the biggest cash of career. Dancharnjitt walked away with $10,008 for his runner-up spot while Katsnelson earned $16,189 and the first WSOP Circuit ring of the series.

The local bartender plays mostly for fun or when he gets the bug to sit in a tournament. He plans to return for more tournament over the next 11 days as he tries to increase his early lead in the Casino Champion race.
