The Seniors Event is a special tournament on any schedule and the World Series of Poker Circuit version drew a huge crowd as expected. More than 300 of our 50-year-old-plus grinders made their way to The Pavilion this morning and it was Stax Poker regular Amir Baron walking away with the title.

The 312 entries in the $250 buy-in tournament easily doubled the $25,000 guaranteed prize pool to put $62,400 up for grabs. It paid out the last 33 players and they burst the money bubble soon after their dinner break.

The final table included some talented players and colorful characters including Evan Teitelbaum, Elliott Zaydman, and Marvin “Duckman” Karlins. The pace slowed once they reached four-handed play with Steve Novak and Errol Rosen exiting to set up the heads-up battle.

After more than 13 hours in The Pavilion, Baron defeated Teitelbaum for the title and another nice score for the popular local. This finish goes along with more than a dozen final table appearances in the regular Stax Poker Monday $130 Deep Stacks tournament and his fourth career tournament win. Baron earned $14,665 for the long day’s work along with a shiny new ring.
