Day 1B Players Remaining:  32 of 249

Christopher Barnes

Christopher Barnes was not on our radar for most of the day but he stormed ahead at the end, a nice addition to his stack came with a timely two-out river to knock the field shorter.

Barnes bagged 526,000 for the Flight B lead only a few chips behind overall leader James Salmon and Pedro Palacio was second in Flight B with 429,000. We will post the complete list of chip counts as soon as they are available.

The final flight starts tomorrow at 10 am and we anticipate a huge crowd.

Top five Flight B stacks:

  1. Christopher Barnes – 526,000
  2. Pedro Palacio – 429,000
  3. Michael Wetcher – 392,000
  4. Albert Barney – 385,000
  5. Julio Delgago – 360,000

Event 1 Day 1B: James Tomblin Eliminated on the Bubble by Ross Wilner

James Tomblin (left) versus Ross Wilner (right)

Unlike the long bubble process in Flight A with 20 hands, Flight B was done in only four. Former leader James Tomblin was down to 37,000 and moved all in from early position. Ross Wilner was next to act and called with only 49,000 behind.

Wilner: AsKc
Tomblin: Ah4h

Tomblin was dominated by the bigger aces and needed a lot of help to double. The board ran out Jc8s5c3c5d and Wilner won the hand to send Tomblin out on the money bubble.

The remaining 32 players will bag their chips and return for Day 2 on Sunday at noon in the money.

Event 1 Day 1B: Four Tables Remain

$400 Super Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 16:  3,000/5,000 with a 5,000 ante
Day 1B Players Remaining:  35 of 249

The anticipated slowdown hit when players neared the money bubble, taking fewer risks while trying to make it to Day 2. They were stuck at five tables for a long stretch but recently dropped to the last four tables and 35 players remain.

Hand-for-hand will kick in when 33 players have stacks and Flight B will come to an end when they hit 32.

Event 1 Day 1B: Julio Delgado Leads; Howard Mash Moving Up

Level 15:  2,000/4,000 with a 4,000 ante
Day 1B Players Remaining:  45 of 249

Howard Mash

The last break has come to an end and tournament staff broke another table soon after to drop the field to 45 players remaining. They will go into hand-for-hand mode when 33 remain and stop for the night with 32 advancing.

Julio Delgado is back in the lead with 320,000 and Matthew Zarcadoolas sits in second with 275,000. Coming up on both of them is two-time Coco Poker champ Howard Mash, up to 253,000 with only a few more levels to go.
