Player busted by Norm Ketchum

(standing) Wait for the River

We pick up the action with Norm Ketchum (Loves Park, IL) with a set of twos against his opponent’s flush draw. “I need a spade,” says the player at risk.

When a red card hits the river, Ketchum’s ducks adds 20k to his stack, taking it to 100k

“It’s a nice room,” says Ketchum who’s traveling Florida in his RV to avoid the Chicago winter.  “Very well lit,” he says, “I’ve been in every spot and I can always see the cards.”

Ketchum is another WSOP bracelet winner in the field (thanks to Brian Wilson for the tip!) and it’s his first trip to Seminole Coconut Creek.

Ketchum won his bracelet in the 2004 No Limit Deuce to Seven Lowball event and says he’s enjoyed the cash games here at the Stax Poker Lounge.

Diaz won his bracelet in the 2011 Triple Chance Event and has $1.4 million in career tournament earnings, while Beasley has $1.3 million in earnings.

Freedman has $355,000 in recorded earnings which includes a WSOP circuit ring.

“It’s a nice room,” says Freedman about the Stax Poker Lounge, “it’s good to be in Florida.”

Lisa Works Out David's Kinks
Lisa Works Out David’s Kinks

“This is the best part of my day by far,” says David Shaw (Boca Raton), as he wraps up his massage moments after being knocked out of Flight D.

Shaw says his downfall came when he hit a set of Queens on the turn, but it gave his opponent, who was holding 8d 5d, a flush. “That cost me 60k,” he says, “I had built up a pretty good stack.”

His consolation prize comes in a 2 1/2 hour massage from Lisa, one of Coconut Creek’s Massage Therapists. “I’m a machine,” she says while working out Shaw’s kinks.

Shaw is strictly a tournament player who comes to Stax Poker Lounge, “when they have a good series.”
