Event 8: More Small Buyin Big Money Fun

$130 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 1: 25/50

Event 8 is underway in the center section of the Pavilion and it should be a big one. It is a $130 No Limit Hold’em tournament with a big $25,000 guaranteed prize pool, the same structure and timing as Event 5 which saw its prize pool balloon over $35,000 by the time registration was closed.

They will start with 16,000 stacks and play 20-minute levels from start to finish. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the end of Level 9.

The grabbed their seat and dealers had them underway at the top of hour.

Event 7: Two Tables Left

$240 Omaha Hi/Lo (Re-Entry)
Level 13: 2,400/4,800 Limits

The starting field of 66 has been reduced to 18, and the remaining players are now seated around the final two tables.

John Holley (Destin, FL)
John Holley (Destin, FL)

John Holley is among the chip leaders, sitting with just over 80,000 chips. Holly is a relative local from Destin, up in the panhandle of the state. He’s a semi-professional player with more than $1.1 million in career earnings, though he’s never cashed in this building.

Event 6: Double in the Money

$560 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 16: 3,000/6,000/500 Ante

Kevin Chan (Coral Springs, FL)
Kevin Chan (Coral Springs, FL)

There were only 19 players in action but the fast pace slowed down once they hit hand-for-hand. Lisa Teebagy managed a double up through Javier Zarco, just after Zarco caught a double through Ryan Van Sanford.

It took 11 hands and more than 30 minutes before they finally hit the money with a double knockout. There were two all-ins called, one on Table 4 and one on Table 5. Steven Karp needed help with KcQc against Kevin Chan’s 9h9c to stay alive.

He missed his over cards on the 7c3c2c flop but added a flush draw. Chan dodged the remaining outs on the 3h turn and Ad river to send Karp out of the tournament.

While that hand was running, T.K. Miles was all-in with 9d9h and dominated by Scott Efron’s JhJd. It was a drama-free Kh6s4d5s3c board to send the hand to Efron. After counting down the stacks, Efron barely had Miles covered to send him out.

Since they went out on the same hand at different tables, Miles and Karp chopped up $1,121 for the co-18th place finish.

Darryll Fish (Cape Coral, FL)
Darryll Fish (Cape Coral, FL) gets one

It took a few minutes into the restart before things really took off on Day 2. Three players from Table 3 were still absent when Ron Cheatwood and Trevor Doughty picked up a must needed double.

Those were the last double ups for awhile. Soon after it was Brett Bader heading out in 25th place followed by Jermaine Phang running his KdTc into Jason Brewer’s KsQc to exit in 24th.

Chip leader Josh Hillock took out the next one when he forced Trent Smith out in 23rd followed by Darryll Fish catching well. He called Jeffrey Cohen’s shove with 6d6s and caught the Kh6c5s flop against his JdJc.

Nancy Bernstein was gone in 21st spot against Ryan Van Sanford before another bad beat put them on the money bubble.

Casey Hunter was looking good for the double up with AsAc against Kevin Chan’s JdJh until the QsJc8h flop. The case Js locked up the hand for Chan to send Hunter out in 19th.

The tournament is now going hand-for-hand until they reach the money.
