High Roller: Dominique Mosley Conquers Tough Final Table for Title

2018 World Series of Poker Circuit
Seminole Casino Coconut Creek
Coconut Creek, Florida
Event 9
$3,250 High Roller (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed
Entries: 74
Prize Pool: $222,000
February 15-16, 2018

The WSOP Circuit Main Event headlined the series but the schedule had a big game on tap the day before. The $3,250 High Roller was the biggest buy-in tournament offered and it drew a field of talented players. The final table lineup was tough and local pro Dominique Mosley defeated fellow pro Matt Stout heads-up for the High Roller ring along with more than $75,000.

The tournament had a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool but the 74 entries pushed it up to $222,000. The tournament played down to the final table late on Day 1 with only eight of them set to make the money. Nine players were still around when they wrapped up in the early morning and returned for Day 2 on the money bubble.

Former WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open champ Brian Altman hit the rail early to put the last eight in the money with several players taking their turn atop the chip counts. Mike Dwyer took the lead when it was four-handed but it did not last long.

Mosley picked up a big double up through Dwyer to take the lead. Dwyer hit the payout desk in third place to set up the heads-up battle with Stout holding similar stacks.

The match for the win was a quick affair when Mosley wrapped up the title after both players were dealt big aces and Mosley’s held. Stout finished in the runner-up position for the second time this series and running well heading into the Main Event.

Mosley, a Pot Limit Omaha cash game player, pushed his live tournament career cash number over $500,000 with his second tournament victory when he took home $75,480 along with his shiny new WSOP Circuit ring.

High Roller results:

1st: Dominique Mosley – $75,480 + Gold Ring
2nd: Matt Stout – $46,702
3rd: Mike Dwyer – $30,743
4th: Martin Ryan – $21,521
5th: Gordon Wilcox – $15,948
6th: Scott Wright – $12,472
7th: Maurice Costigan – $10,265
8th: Jerry Wong – $8,869

Martin Ryan

Flight A of the Main Event is into the last level of the day with nine tables remaining and we expect to drop at least one more before they finish the night.

It shouldn’t be a surprise this point but current WSOP Casino Champion leader Martin Ryan is back out front with 225,000 after max-late registering. There are others in contention for the end-of-day lead but we wouldn’t doubt him being up there.

Jerry Wong

Jerry Wong three-bet shoved for 37,300 from the small blind after a late position open and the big blind moved all in for 60,000. The original raiser released and Wong needed to catch.

Wong; Ah4h
Opponent: JhJd

The good news came for the former November Niner on the AdQs2s flop. He stayed ahead on the Ac turn and had his double after the 5h river.

Wong is coming off a nice run yesterday and this afternoon when he made the final table of the High Roller event for an eighth-place payout.

Jerry Wong – 81,000 (41 bb)
