The quick bubble was beneficial to a few players including Allen “Chainsaw” Kessler. He was down to 3.5 big blinds and made it into the money. After the break, he put those chips in the middle in a three-way pot after only seeing one of his cards. It was an ace which was good enough to get them in.
The board ran out and Todd Mercer put out a big stack of chips and picked up a call from the other live stack. Mercer’s was good for a boat over his opponent’s flush.
Then Kessler checked his hole cards and was surprised to see his second card was an ace as well. He picked up a short-stacked but it was third best by the river.
This is Kessler’s 87th WSOP Circuit cash and 165 overall WSOP cash, third-most all-time.
Not long after Kessler was eliminated, Mercer sent Ryan Van Sanford out as well to move his stack up to 778,000.
