Matthew Zarcadoolas

Event 4 rolled the WSOP Circuit schedule into the new week and the $400 buy-in tournament drew an even 100 entries on a Monday evening. After an up and down Day 1, Seminole Hard Rock Poker regular Matthew Zarcadoolas earned his second WSOP Circuit ring in the last few months.

Zarcadoolas was way up early on Day 1 with 130K in the early going but that bullet did not last long.

“I lit on fire in like ten minutes,” he joked after his win.

“Then I run into my friend, Raminder Singh,” Zarcadoolas continued. “He says, ‘Matt, where are you going? Jump back in! Jump back in!'”

The second shot went much better.

The tournament had a $33,000 prize pool and the last 12 spots were set to be paid. They quickly made it to the money bubble where Zarcadoolas did the heavy lifting. He was in a three-way pot with Event 3 champ Eliezer Gonzalez and the eventual bubble player. He made kings up to crack aces and the field was in the money.

Zarcadoolas was in the middle of the pack at the final table for the start of Day 2 with a lot of talent between him and ring. Former WSOPC champs Jose Reyes and Arkadiy Tsinis were eliminated short of another title and Stanley “Kip” Williams hit the rail in fourth place to guarantee someone was getting another ring.

It was Zarcadoolas versus Pedro Aldave and Kevin Johnson, all three already owning one WSOPC victory. Johnson was the most recent winner after winning the Biloxi Main Event title in December but he dropped from the chip lead to out in third place.

The heads-up battle between Zarcadoolas and Aldave had some big swings. Aldave gave up the chip lead when he ran into Zarcadoolas’ aces and then Aldave returned the favor when he had aces against the kings of Zarcadoolas.

It was a minor set back for the Fort Lauderdale pro. A few hands later, he caught a fortunate river card to end the match. Aldave was unable to capture a second title but took home $6,119 as a consolation prize while Zarcadoolas added a second ring to the one he captured right here in August along with $9,901.
