Jim Newcomb leads the final nine players in Event 2 of the Coco Poker Showdown, today’s 12 p.m. $130 no limit hold’em deep stack turbo bounty tournament. Newcomb has turned his 16,000 starting chips into 324,000 and leads second place Andres Verona (312,000) slightly.

Cards are in the air for the final playing session now. Each of the nine remaining participants has locked up $101 with the tournament’s winner earning $1,480.

All remaining players are assured $613 with the tournament’s winner pocketing $27,225.

In addition, there are 112 $20 bounties up for grabs bringing the total kiddie to $6,720. Each of the top 12 players head home with a score of at least $78. Payouts escalate from there before topping out in the form of a $1,480 first prize.

With 84 entries and growing, the $5,000 guarantee in Event 2 of the Coco Poker Showdown is a thing of the past. Registration remains open until about 3:30 p.m. and any additional entries between now and then are simply icing on the prize pool cake.

Leading the way during the early stages of play is Canada’s Bruno Foirtin. Foirtin, who’s only earned one bounty, claims about 75,000 chips.

The 1,156-entry starting field in the $100,000 guaranteed Coco Poker Showdown opening event is down to just 103 players remaining and Day 2 is underway. With 316,500 chips, Wanlop Phonphornwithoon is the only player over 300,000 and he’s in pole position with a $27,225 top prize on the line.

This unique tournament permitted players to all starting flights and awarded an additional min-cash for each Day 2 a player advanced to after their first. This feat was accomplished by just one player — Joseph Patalano. Patalano bagged a mini, 2,000-chip stack in Flight A before snagging 67,500 chips in Flight D. For his efforts, he pocketed $185 before cards even went in the air this afternoon.

All Day 2 players are in the money and assured a score of at least $185.

Today’s 12 p.m. $80 no limit hold’em tournament isn’t just a no limit hold’em tournament. It isn’t just a no limit hold’em deep stack tournament, either. Furthermore, it’s not even a no limit hold’em deep stack turbo tournament. Finally, and I promise we’ll stop after this one, it’s a no limit hold’em deep stack turbo bounty tournament.

Players begin the unique event with 16,000-chip starting stacks and will play 15-minute levels throughout. $40 of the $80 buy-in goes to the prize pool while another $20 counts as a player’s bounty.

Late registration/unlimited re-entry is available until the start of Level 13 and this tournament is expected to play out in one day.
