Level 10: 800/1,600/200 Ante

We’re still waiting on official numbers/accounting but it looks like Flight 1E drew 199 entrants. That leaves them one short of the magic 200 but a fine Saturday afternoon showing. That means we only need 83 entrants in the final flight to pass the $250,000 guarantee, we’re going to have some big money up top.

We found Marty Robbins in the field today, a Seminole property regular as he hits up the big series around the different properties. His biggest cash came two months ago when he finished second in the huge-field Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open $150 Deep Stack event.

Event 1 (Day 1E): Weitzenkorn Still Leads; Lövgren Re-Enters

$350 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 9: 600/1,200/200 Ante

Players have returned for the last level with open registration or re-entry only two buy-ins short of 200 entrants. A recent re-enter came from Sofia Lövgren when she hit the rail just before the break. Another recent casualty was Jacquelyn Scott but we have no information about her coming back in.

Dan Weitzenkorn made the most of his last four levels and extended his chip lead as the only player over 100,000. Vendel Johnson rode his elimination of TJ Shulman to take his spot on the leaderboard while Iman Dan backed up a little since his highmark.

Dan Weitzenkorn – 114,600 (96 bb)
Vendel Johnson – 82,300 (69 bb)
Joe Patalano – 50,500 (42 bb)
Iman Dan – 34,700 (29 bb)
Sofia Lövgren – 16,000 (13 bb)

Event 1 (Day 1E): Johnson Hits Perfect

TJ Shulman took a tough beat as they were getting near the end of Level 8. We caught the action with the chips in the middle and Shulman at risk against Vendel Johnson. He was ahead with AcJs versus QcTc and stormed further ahead on the Ad5h4d flop.

That left Johnson with less than a 3% chance to win the hand but hit a couple nice running cards with the Ts turn and Qd river. Not a fun way to go out but Shulman was looking to get another bullet in the game.

Players are heading off on a 15-minute break and will return for one more level with registration and re-entry open.

Event 1 (Day 1E): Patalano Looking for Second Title

$350 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 8: 500/1,000/100 Ante

Joe Patalano (Wellington, FL)
Joe Patalano (Wellington, FL)

The 1E field reached Level 8 with 188 entrants so far and trying to hit the 200 mark. It seems unlikely with little over an hour to register, but it will be close.

Joe Patalano is in action today after earning the first trophy of the 2015 Coco Poker Open. While this is the first event of the series, the PLO Event 2 played out yesterday and Pantalano was the last player standing after a heads up chop.

Event 1 (Day 1E): Sweden Comes to Florida

Level 6: 300/600/75 Ante

Sofia Lövgren (Gothenberg, Sweden)

Today’s field has gone international with the inclusion of Sofia Lövgren in the game. We have no actual proof, but we believe she is the first Swede in the Event 1 field.

Lövgren immediately took a little good-natured needling about her youthful appearance but that might work in her favor. She is dangerous and has tournament cashes in eight different countries including seven in WSOP events. Lövgren also has two WPT cashes including last week when she was the big chip leader at the WPT Borgata Poker Open deep on Day 2.

She helped push the entrant count over 180 with less than two hours to get involved.

Event 1 (Day 1E): Weitzenkorn Leads Early

Level 5: 200/400/50 Ante

Dan Weitzenkorn (Williamsville, NY)
Dan Weitzenkorn (Williamsville, NY)

During the break, Flight 1E became the biggest flight so far in Event 1 with 162 entrants in the game as Level 5 gets underway.

Dan Weitzenkorn has a nice lead at the first break and it seems he got there in fun fashion. He scored an early knockout when his flopped gutshot/flush draw got there on a river to knock out a player with flopped two pair. The KO almost sent a chair flying during the quick exit.

Weitzenkorn has one career cash and it came earlier this year during the Seminole Hard Rock Lucky Hearts Poker Open.

Top and notable counts:

Dan Weitzenkorn – 61,275 (153 bb)
Iman Dan – 48,775 (122 bb)
Adewale Adeyemi – 43,124 (108 bb)
Rafael Marcondes – 42,325 (106 bb)
Jose Parra – 29,850 (75 bb)
Luis Santoni – 22,075 (55 bb)
Tracey Gelb – 21,100 (53 bb)
Elliott Zaydman – 18,625 (47 bb)
Jacquelyn Scott – 12,225 (31 bb)

Event 1 (Day 1E): Take a Breather

$350 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 4: 100/200/25 Ante

Players are heading off on a 15-minute break with 145 entrants showing on the information board. That leaves them just shy of topping the biggest flight so far, we had 152 for the Thursday evening session, and three hours remaining to register.

We’ll take a look at the early leaders and find some big stacks while they’re away.

Level 3: 75/150

Jacquelyn Scott (Fort Lauderdale, FL)
Jacquelyn Scott (Fort Lauderdale, FL)

We don’t get very many WSOP bracelet winners in the earlier events of the series but we have one today. Jacquelyn Scott had cashes all over the state of Florida and added Nevada to the list this summer.

She opened her Vegas summer by cashing in the WPT500 event and that was a small start. A month later she earned the first WSOP cash of her career and it just happened to be the biggest payout in the tournament. She outlasted 794 other players to win the WSOP Ladies Championship in front of a lot of friends from South Florida.

She’s with us today as the entrant count hit triple digits faster than any of the previous flights.
