Event 1: Day 2 Ready to Go

$350 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 15: 2,500/5,000/500 Ante

Event 1 players are back in the room and ready to find their champion. The tournament drew 990 entrants with 122 of them coming back today. Faycal Bennouna-Zhar packed his bag full with 515,000 and only Evan Teitelbaum gave him a chase last night.

Of those 122 players, only 90 of them will make it into the money with the top spot set to earn a very nice $73,094 for the title. Cards will be in the air shortly and we’ll be here from start to finish.

Top ten returning stacks:

Faycal Bennouna – 515,000 (103 bb)
Evan Teitelbaum – 387,500 (78 bb)
Yves Fequiere – 347,000 (69 bb)
Jeffrie Charlton – 331,500 (66 bb)
Jorge Guilarte – 282,000 (56 bb)
Kenneth Bruno – 256,000 (51 bb)
Steven Bennett – 245,500 (49 bb)
Pedro Palacio – 232,500 (47 bb)
Casey Kaplan – 232,000 (46 bb)
Guillermo Hamilton – 222,000 (44 bb)

Event 3: Getting Bigger

$500 H.O.R.S.E. (Re-Entry)
Level 2: 150/300 Limits

Luis Santoni (Aguada, FL)
Luis Santoni (Aguada, FL)

The non-No Limit Hold’em events will never draw as big as their cousins but we have a nice field of 20 players at the start of the second level. Closing in on the halfway point of hitting the $20,000 guarantee with plenty of time to run that up.

Local favorite Luis Santoni is back in action two days after making the Event 2 PLO final table. He finished fifth in that game and looking to move up.

Event 3: HORSEing Around

$500 H.O.R.S.E. (Re-Entry)
Level 1: 100/200 Limits

There are enough non-Hold’em and mix events on the 2015 Coco Poker Open schedule to keep everyone happy. We already wrapped up a Pot Limit Omaha tournament and this afternoon puts H.O.R.S.E. out there for those who like to master different variations of the game.

They’ll rotate through Limit Hold’em, Limit Omaha/8, Razz, Stud, and Stud/8 to test their skills. Players sit down to 10,000 stacks and play 40-minutes levels throughout the tournament. Late registration is available until the end of Level 6, approximately 4:15pm, with unlimited re-entries available during that time.

It will be tough to dust off those stacks in that amount of time, but the option is there.

Dealers are stationed and players are beginning to take their seats for the newest event on the schedule. Cards will in the air shortly.

Event 1 (Day 1E): Bennouna Bags Big

$350 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 14: 2,000/4,000/400 Ante

Faycal Bennouna ends 1E with huge lead
Faycal Bennouna ends 1E with huge lead

Faycal Bennouna had a nice stack at the last break and it only moved further north. He packed 515,000 in his bag when they shut down 1E for a big lead over the first five flights. Yves Fequiere looked a little comfy with 347,000 from 1C but there’s a hefty gap between the top two at the moment.

Jorge Guiladte’s 282,000 might have been good for the chip leader bonus in three of the four prior flights, but all he could do in 1E was bag them up and be happy with a likely top ten returning stack.

There were 23 players remaining at the end of Level 14 from the starting 199 entrants. The final flight is underway and they are looking to join the 93 players who have already advanced to the 2pm restart tomorrow.

Faycal Bennouna – 515,000 (103 bb)

Event 1 (Day 1E): Bennouna Storms Ahead

Faycal Bennouna takes a big lead late
Faycal Bennouna takes a big lead late

Out of nowhere, Faycal Bennouna has jumped to everyone’s attention when he left a 400K stack behind on break. Chips of all three denominations in play were stacked up in a big, nice towers.

We’ll try to track down how he built the stack but right now he’s the overall Event 1 leader. We’ll see if he can hang on.

Former leader Dan Weitzenkorn has been hovering around the 100K mark and a few players have blasted past including John Depersio. He was probably feeling good about his near 200K stack until he caught a glimpse of the Bennouna castle on the other side.

Faycal Bennouna – 407,000 (136 bb)
John Depersio – 197,000 (66 bb)
