Christopher Buggs, $250 Turbo NLH champ

While Day 1B of the WSOP Circuit Main Event was playing out, we had a speedy one-day trophy event on the other side of the room. Event 11 was a $250 buy-in Turbo No Limit Hold’em tournament that drew a great 123-entry field. After a tough battle, Christopher Buggs won his first career WSOP Circuit ring along with $6,702.

Once registration closed, the tournament quickly played down into the money bubble with $24,600 up for grabs. It took them more than a level to get there but the pace picked up after that.

Soon they were at the final table with SHRP regular Francis Margaglione leading the way. Unfortunately for him, that’s where the good news ended and he went out in tenth place.

Despite the snappy 20-minute levels, the final table took much longer to play out than anticipated. It was a tough group but Ellen Lambeth, Raymond Grell, and Jeffrey Silverstein fell by the wayside. Buggs had one more tough opponent to get through when he was heads-up with Carlo Rodriguez, the SHRPO PokerStars Platinum Pass winner.

In the end, Buggs prevailed to win his first ring while denying Rodriguez his first. Congratulations to Christopher and we look forward to more big score.
