2016 Coco Poker Open Seminole Casino Coconut Creek Coconut Creek, FL Event #10 $175 No Limit Hold’em Survivor Entries: 60 Prize Pool: $12,000 September 27, 2016
Event 10 of the Coco Poker Open lightened the mood in The Pavilion Tuesday evening with a unique event raising awareness for local youth. A $175 No Limit Hold’em Survivor tournament began at 6pm and had a charity component to it that saw $45 of each buy-in go to the I C.A.R.E. Foundation, a South Florida organization that assists underprivileged individuals in their journey to a better life. In all, 60 entries ponied up the buy-in with each of the final 10 survivors pocketing $1,200. Lorenzo Hampton bowed out 11th, leaving the rest of the field in the money.
By his own account, Evan Dollinger held 95,000 of the 600,000 chips in play and was the chip leader at the time of the chop. Joining him in the money were John Holley, Daniel Genachte and former professional football player Errict Rhett. The latter was part of a strong contingent of retired professional athletes that turned out to support fellow pro James Pruitt, the founder of I C.A.R.E. In addition to Rhett, Hampton too played professional football.
The final 10 players weren’t the only winners Tuesday at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek. Tournament buy-ins raised $2,700 for I C.A.R.E. with any private donations and revenue from the silent auction adding to that figure.
Here’s a complete look at those players who went home with a payday:
Evan Dollinger – $1,200 John Holley – $1,200 Daniel Genachte – $1,200 Errict Rhett – $1,200 Kevin Batt – $1,200 Paula Holder – $1,200 Jeffrey Morrison – $1,200 Jeffrey Smurlick – $1,200 Mark Brannick – $1,200 Jasmine Schofill Nuss – $1,200

With 11 players remaining, everyone agreed to pay short stack Lorenzo Hampton $25. With a fresh $250 in his pocket, Hampton hit the rail 11th leaving the final 10 players with $1,200 each. Among those to finish in the money were John Holley and Daniel Genachte.
The full tournament results will be posted shortly.

Event 10, tonight’s 6pm $175 buy-in No Limit Hold’em Survivor tournament drew 60 entries coming up a little shy of the $12,000 guarantee. The final 10 survivors finish in the money and each pocket $1,200. The players aren’t the only ones going home with some loot, though. Tournament buy-ins alone accounted for raising $2,700 for the I C.A.R.E. Foundation.

Recognized as the vision of former professional football player James Pruitt, the I C.A.R.E. Foundation benefits individuals in need of a support system. The organization looks to instill confidence and independence through education, training and the fostering of healthy relationships.
Pruitt is on site promoting the charity and trying to do his part to beef up the prize pool. He recently got his last 1,975 chips in the pot preflop holding against the of his opponent. A 10 fell on the flop and he doubled up to hang around a bit longer.
In addition to Pruitt, the field is made up of other former professional athletes.
As an added bonus, players in the $175 Survivor event presented in partnership with the I C.A.R.E. Foundation can participate in a silent auction. Up for grabs are a number of one-of-a-kind sports and entertainments collectibles.
