Level 20: 4,000/8,000 with a 1,000 ante
Players Remaining: 20 of 318

Event 1 players are on another break with 20 remaining and a redraw coming when 18 remain. WSOP bracelet winner and four-time Circuit champ Phil Hui was among the latest casualties along with Zaki Lichaa, Donald Dowler, and SHR Poker regular John Gorsuch.

The 500 denom chips are coming out of play and 25K chips are being introduced during the break.

21st: Zaki Lichaa – $971
22nd: Donald Dowler – $833
23rd: John Gorsuch – $833
24th: Phil Hui – $833

Event 1: Dani Dayan Fades the World

Level 20: 4,000/8,000 with a 1,000 ante
Players Remaining: 21 of 318

Dani Dayan

Martin Ryan built up his stack a little more and then sent a big double to his neighbor. Ryan put Dani Dayan all in preflop for her last 109,000 and she called with a button monster.

Ryan: AhQd
Dayan: KhKc

Dayan was way ahead but Ryan flopped a big draw on the Qh8h4h board. Any ace, queen, or heart would give him the comeback but Dayan improved on the Kd turn to leave Ryan with eight river outs. The 4d river changed nothing and Dayan had her double.

Dani Dayan – 230,000 (29 bb)
Martin Ryan – 350,000 (44 bb)

Martin Ryan

The pace in Event 1 slowed again and only two players hit the payout desk over the last 30 minutes. Martin Ryan moved back into the lead and sits with a big 360,000 stack as they work their way to the final table. Jeff Kessler looks like his nearest competitor with 310,000 while Bryce McVay dropped back to the field with an average stack.

Event 1: Chris Halkitis Burst the Bubble

$365 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$50,000 Guaranteed | Structure | Payouts
Level 17: 2,000/4,000 with a 500 ante
Players Remaining: 33 of 318

Only two hands were needed to burst the money bubble and we almost had two go out at the same time.

Joelle Guarino opened the action on her table and called after Bryce McVay moved all in from the small blind. That hand was anticlimactic when they both rolled over AQ for a chopped pot.

On a neighboring table, a player open-shoved for 25,000 from the cutoff and Chris Halkitis called in the big blind to put him at risk.

Halkitis: AcKs
Cutoff: AsQc

Halkitis held the dominating hand and the dealer kept it low on the 7s5h2s4h7h board to put the field in the money.

Bryce McVay

It didn’t take long after the break for Event 1 to drop to 34 players to put them on the money bubble. Tournament staff paused the clock and will take two minutes off for each hand dealt until we lose one player.

Bryce McVay turned out to be the break time leader after the black chips were colored up and we could get a better look at the stacks. He returned to a 230,000 stack to barely nudge Martin Ryan into second.

Martin Ryan

Event 1 could not make its way to the money bubble before they hit the next break but it shouldn’t take long to get into the money when they return.

Martin Ryan looks like the leader at the break and will return to a stack of 220,000 with Bryce McVay also closing with over 200,000 as well.

Event 1: Chris Halkitis Two-Outs a River

$365 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

Level 16: 1,500/3,000 with a 500 ante

Chris Halkitis

The pace slowed as Event 1 neared the money bubble but Chris Halkitis did his part to get the field shorter with a timely two-out river.

He had an opponent all in for 32,800 and dominated with AcAh against QsQd. The 9h9c4c flop brought no drama but the Qc turn had Halkitis looking at a bad beat. That changed with the river binked the Ad river to send the field down to four tables.

Event 1: Jeff Kessler Sends One Out

$365 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$50,000 Guaranteed | Structure | Payouts
Level 16: 1,500/3,000 with a 500 ante

Jeff Kessler

Jeff Kessler is making his bid for a WSOP C ring with a late run of his own. He knocked an opponent out when his 3c3s flopped a set against AdQd on the Ks7d3d board and faded the flush to push his stack to 138,000.

Only 40 players remain with 33 getting paid, it is a race between the money bubble and next break.

Event 1: High Hand for Michael Goldfarb

$365 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$50,000 Guaranteed | Structure | Payouts
Level 15: 1,200/2,400 with a 400 ante
Players Remaining: 50 of 318

Michael Goldfarb

We missed the hand but heard the ruckus. We walked over to see Michael Goldfarb stacking up a castle worth 120,000 and having a good laugh.

That was because his KcQc out-flopped AxJx in a big way when it came AcJcTc for a flopped Royal Flush. Not a bad way to start off the series for the room regular.
