Ari Engel

The Monster Stack field was in no hurry to get their chips in the middle on the money bubble. Besides Theo Lawson’s early double, the rest of the playout included 15 hands to get the field down into the money. They even crossed into Level 20 during that time.

On the 15th hand, Steve Novak moved all in for 27,000 and it folded around to Ari Engel in the big blind. He had 8,000 committed with only 6,000 in his hand. After thinking it out and seeing no other all-ins called at the other tables, Engel put them in the middle.

Engel: Ac5h
Novak: AsAd

The eight-time WSOP Circuit champ ran into a bubble monster, found a little sweat after the Kh5s4d flop, but missed the 7d turn and 8c turn to exit on the money bubble.

A.J. Kelsall

Monster Stack players reached the end of Level 18 and are returning from their final break of the day. There are 61 players remaining to leave them seven away from the money with 54 getting paid.

They’ll play three more 45-minute levels before survivors will bag up their chips for a Day 2 return tomorrow at 1 pm.

Loni Harwood, Mark Dube, A.J. Kelsall, John Magnetta, Sean Shah, Steven Bennett, Steven Touitou, and Bryce McVay are among the crowd hoping to make it into the money this level.

Monster Stack: Bryce McVay Comes Back for a Knockout

$365 Monster Stack (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 17: 2,000/4,000 with a 500 ante
Players Remaining: 81 of 538

Bryce McVay

There was a lot of action in the middle of the room and it took a while to play out. Action folded to the button and he moved all in for 33,000. The small blind player raised to 75,000 and Bryce McVay four-bet shoved from the big blind for 149,000.

The small blind player had a decision to make and took his time to think it through. And then he thought some more while the rest of the table waited. Another player had enough and was asking the dealer to call “clock” as the small blind player released pocket tens face up.

McVay: KcKd
Button: JsJd

McVay was in great position to pull a nice pot but the JcTc6d put the button player in front. McVay picked up a big straight flush draw on the Qc turn and it was the straight getting there on the Ah river to send him the pot.

McVay is already having a successful series with a runner-up finish in Event 1 and fourth-place finish this afternoon at the Six-Max final table.

Bryce McVay – 260,000 (65 bb)
