Joey Alegria

After busting his first entry, Tampa’s Joey Alegria is among the newest re-entry here in Flight C. Alegria, primarily a cash grinder, is one of a handful of players who made the journey from the west side of the state over to the east side for a shot a World Series of Poker Circuit gold ring. Others around from that area include the aforementioned Mike Laake, Event 1 runner-up Bryce McVay and Wally Maddah.

Alegria’s tournament career started hot as he racked up a number of cashes and multiple five-figure scores in his first year on the felt. With his last in-the-money finish occurring in September of last year, it’s been a bit since he’s found a tournament payday, but he’s off to a good start here on entry number two having recently picked up a set and sent an opponent to the rail.

Daniel Jones

First break wrapped just about 15 minutes ago and the super-sized field filed back in for another two hours of play in Flight C of the $300,000 guaranteed re-entry. There’s a sea of players in The Pavilion, but it’s Daniel Jones that stands above his counterparts with a stack of 48,000. Have nearly quintupled up over the first two hours of play, Jones leads the action early with blinds of 100/200 and a 25 ante.

Mike Laake fired entries in previous flights but came up shy of a Day 2 berth. He’s back in the game here in Flight C and is part of a growing field that now sits over 340 entries. Laake’s off to a good start, currently sitting with better than double starting stack early in Level 4. Seated to his direct left and right are fellow Florida players Steven Bennett and Zoltan Czinkota.

Event 2B: Phil Knapic Ends with Overall Lead

$365 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$300,000 Guaranteed |
Structure
End of Level 15: 1,200/2,400 with a 400 ante
Flight B Players Remaining: 42 of 370

Phil Knapic

Play has come to an end for Flight B with 44 players remaining of the starting 370 entries. That leaves a combined total of 89 set to return so far from the first two flights with two more to run tomorrow.

Phil Knapic was not on the radar for much of the day but he stormed late and bagged 248,000. That is good enough for the overall lead from the first two flights and one of three players over 200K.

Full chip counts will be posted as soon as they are available.

Top ten Flight B stacks:

  1. Phil Knapic – 248,000
  2. John Shepherd – 217,500
  3. Matthew Zarcadoolas – 206,000
  4. Sherry Kittay – 149,000
  5. Neil Blumenfield – 148,500
  6. Raminder Singh – 127,000
  7. Henry Billete – 119,500
  8. Joaquin Sosa – 115,500
  9. Maurice Costigan – 115,500
  10. Scott Wyler – 115,000

Level 14: 1,000/2,000 with a 300 ante
Flight B Players Remaining: 60 of 370

Neil Blumenfield

Less than one hour remains in Flight B action and they are on roughly the same pace as Flight A earlier. They should be right around the 12% number when they hit the end of Level 15.

Former November Niner Neil Blumenfield is enjoying his last few hours and moved his stack into contention for the end-of-flight chip. His 125,000 is among the leaders and he’s well positioned for a deep Day 2 run.

Event 2B: Sherry Kittay Leads At Last Break

Level 13: 800/1,600 with a 200 ante

Sherry Kittay

Players returned to their seats and Flight B will play out three more levels before calling it a night. Eric Mitchell was the first player we noticed over the 100K mark but he’s not the big stack in the room.

Sherry Kittay is the front-runner with less than two hours to go in the day and her 167,000 would be good enough for second overall if she treads water from here on out.
