Phil Hui is making himself at home in South Florida over the last few weeks. Hui, who hails from San Antonio, Tex., left his mark on the Lucky Hearts Poker Open earlier this month recording three cashes including a victory $24,159 score in a $570 event.

Although it’s early here in Coconut Creek, he’s parlayed his solid play into an early stack. After beginning with 20,000 chips less than two levels ago, Hui has nearly doubled up and sits at just under 40,000.

Timothy "T.K." Miles
Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the Year leader Timothy “T.K.” Miles

Timothy “T.K.” Miles is among the early field here on Day 1 of the Coco Poker Showdown Championship. Miles kicked off the 2016 Seminole Hard Rock Poker season with a 3rd-place finish in the Immokalee Championship. He then went on to finish 19th here at Coconut Creek and 5th in the Hard Rock Tampa’s Winter Poker Open Championship.

On top of his earnings, Miles accumulated 467.9675 points toward the SHRP Player of the Year race. He leads the way through the completion of the Lucky Hearts Poker Open Main Event and has his sights square on the race’s $44,000 prize package.

Given the hot start, it’s likely Miles will be a staple at all Seminole events this year.

David Albertson
Event 1 winner David Albertson

Two players in the Event 6 restart are holding their heads a little higher than the rest of the field. About a week ago, David Albertson bested 1,156 entries in the opening event of the series — a $130 multi-flight tournament. The performance earned Albertson more than $25,000 and his third major tournament victory. The other Event 6 standout, Ryan Anderson, was the chip leader at the Event 1 final table before finishing 4th.

Now, a week later, the pair shares a table again deep in the Event 6 restart. Anderson again holds the advantage and appears to be one of the tournament’s chip leaders with just under 400,000 in chips.
