(Coconut Creek, FL) — Cory Blum plowed through the field in Event 7 of the World Series of Poker Circuit at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek — a $600 buy-in Pot Limit Omaha tournament — Thursday evening. For the dominating performance, Blum was rewarded with a WSOP Circuit gold ring as well as $11,394 in prize money.

“It’s funny because I said coming in I would win it,” Blum told the WSOP following his win. “I just believed it with conviction and it actually happened. It’s pretty cool.”

Blum is a former poker pro but now works in health insurance. He’s 28  years old and resides in Plantation, Florida. His game was sharp as he maneuvered through the 59-entry field in Event 7 leading the final six handily — 455,000 chips with the next closest stack at 248,000. Play wrapped at that point and resumed Thursday with each of the remaining players in the money.

“I actually think I had the chip lead pretty much most of the tournament except for maybe a couple of hands,” Blum said.

Blum’s chip lead catered to a fast playdown as Benjamin Friesen went in sixth, Richard Gayler in fifth and Abraham Araya in third. Blum put the finishing touches on his title and dusted of Craig Monrade in second needing only about two-and-a-half hours to finish off the final six.

Blum has no shortage of accolades with three tournament wins at Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood as well as two in Pompano Beach. Following his win Thursday afternoon in Coconut Creek, his career tournament earnings sit at better than $133,000.

Final results:

1st: Cory Blum – $11,394 + WSOP Circuit ring
2nd: Craig Monrade – $7,049
3rd: Abraham Araya – $4,619
4th: Jordan Dhanani – $3,190
5th: Richard Gayler – $2,340
6th: Benjamin Friesen – $1,793
