Today at the Lucky Hearts Poker Open at Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Coconut Creek will see the conclusion of Event 1, our $300,000 Guaranteed No Limit Hold ‘Em tournament. 143 players will resume play at 1 pm with the hopes of being one of the lucky 63 to make the money. First place in this event will take home in excess of 80K.
We’ll also see two other events get underway. Event 2, a $240 Pot Limit Omaha 8 or Better tournament with a $10,000 Guaranteed prize pool will start at noon. Event 3, a $250 No Limit Hold ‘Em tournament with a $20,000 Guaranteed prize pool gets underway later in the evening at 6 pm.
In addition, the Stax Poker Lounge will be running multiple satellites for a chance to get into the nationally televised WPT Championship Event. You can view a summary and schedule of all events at the following page:
Most people would be happy with a 2nd and 3rd place finish at World Series of Poker events. Most people would be happy with over 600K in winnings as a result of those finishes. Not Seth Berger. The 23 year old poker professional from Long Island, New York is looking for more. “I need a win,” he said, as he counted out his tournament leading chip stack of 299,500. Berger is here visiting a friend and plans on playing in the WPT Championship Event later next week. If he keeps up this good run, he’ll be freerolling.
A total of 41 players made it through to return tomorrow giving us a total of 143 players that will try to make it into the money. Only 63 get paid so 80 more players will have to fall by the wayside before that dream becomes a reality. Here are the chip counts for those from Day 1E who survived. We will post full chip counts shortly and Day 2 seating assignments will be posted at approximately 10-11 am.
The board showed and there were three players all in.
Seat 7: – looking good with top two pair
Seat 8: – behind but not dead with a flush draw
Seat 9: – ahead with his set but still needs to fade a diamond or ace to knock both the other players out
The turn… and Seat 9 is still ahead. The river… and Seat 8 jumps out of his seat and claps his hands in excitement three times. A near triple up to 80K and Seat 7 is eliminated. A disappointed Seat 9 sits there quietly, still alive, but not nearly as good as he could have been if the river had not been a diamond.
There are 55 players remaining as we head into the final hour of play.
Players are on a 10 minute color up break as they get rid of the green 25 chips. There are approximately 90 players out of the original 165 remaining. They will return to blinds of 400/800 with a 100 ante.
There was a total of 639 entrants creating a prize pool of $319,500. 63 players will make the money with first place taking home $81,823. Full payouts are as follows:
His stay was short lived as he was recently eliminated with a nut flush draw that would not improve against bottom two pair, but Mukul Pahuja was among the many that decided to come down to try their luck in the $300,000 Guaranteed NLHE tournament here at the STAX Poker Lounge. Mukul has over 1.85 million in reported live career earnings including a recent 2nd place finish at the 2013 WPT Montreal tournament for $362,430. His biggest score, however, was a 3rd place finish at the $10,000,000 Guarantee at Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood for $872,625.
