Greg Masterson’s short stack finally is snuffed out by chip leader Jordan Chizik

On a flop of A 8 5, Greg Masterson puts in his last 18k and says to Chizik, “come on, you know you can go runner-runner.”  Which turns out to be a prophetic statement after Chizik calls for 10k more.

Chizik: 6-5-3-3 (pair of 5s)
Masterson: K-9-2-4 (second nut low)

Turn: 4

River: 2

And with that Chizik goes runner, runner for the wheel and the scoop and is now up to 216k.

“What are you going to do,” says Masterson, “it was fun.”

Masterson 6th place finish adds $649 to his bankroll.

He says he’ll play at least one more event in the Lucky Hearts Poker Open and will try to satellite into the Championship Event (Feb 7-11).

A short stacked Juan Peraltas moved all in with and was called by Alfonso Perez out of the big blind with A-5. Peraltas was unable to improve and finishes in 14th place for $2,715.

Angelo Miele continued his tricky ways, limping in with pocket Kings yet again. He found action for a second time when Bruce Reid moved all in with A-Q. Miele quickly called and would send Reid to the rail in 13th place, also good for $2,715.

Angelo Miele limped in early position and Joey Weissman moved all in for the rest of his stack with pocket 6’s. Angelo had trapped with pocket Kings and Weissman would be eliminated in 16th place when he was unable to improve. He took home $2,236 for his finish.

Marina Koles flatted Ronnie Bardah’s pre-flop raise and the flop came with three jacks. The two got their chips in the middle and Koles showed a monster… pocket Kings. It was no good, however, as Bardah had hit gin with K-J for flopped quads. Koles finished in 15th place. She did take home $2,715 to go along with her bust out story.

Matthew Elsarelli was just eliminated in 17th place for $2,236 when he moved all in on a K-9-7 flop with J-T against Richard Leger who held pocket 5’s. Matthew was short and was unable to hit any of his many outs. Here is how our final 16 looks with rough/approximate chip counts:

Ron Halperin moves all in preflop for 25k and is against Jordan Chizik.

Halperin: A-K-T-2 (double suited)
Chizik: A-4-6-6

Flop: 2-3-5

And just like that Chizik flops the wheel, and after blanks on the turn and river, his 5-high straight gets the knockout.

Halperin finishes in 7th place for $519.

“We’ll get’em next time,” says Halperin while sending a final shout out to his wife Nat and daughter Po.

Patrick Heneghan was just eliminated in 18th place when he moved all in with pocket 6’s and was up against Joey Weissman and his . Two 5’s on the flop would move Joey into the lead and he would not relinquish it. The remaining 17 players seating assignments is as follows and we’ll have updated chip counts when they go on break in approximately 15 minutes.

Robert Bresner was down to approximately 8 big blinds and called an under the gun raise from the big blind with pocket 7’s. The flop came Q-Q-2 and Bresner moved all in. It was bad timing on his part, however, as his opponent held K-Q for flopped trips. Bresner finished in 19th place for $1,917.
