Bobby Bradley (Wellington, Fla.)

Just about a week ago, Bobby Bradley was in the process of winning the $350 pot-limit Omaha eight-handed event a few miles south at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Hollywood. Now, he’s making some noise in Coconut Creek and bursting the bubble in Flight A of the $100,000 guaranteed Event 1.

With 12 players remaining, Bradley picked up pocket nines and had a lone opponent’s A-8 at risk. The board ran out no help and Bradley busted an unknown player 12th sending the final 11 on to Day 2.

Players are now bagging. It appears Alan Slakman will head home with the chip lead as he holds just under 300,000.

Full chip counts will be posted shortly.

Event 1 Day 1A: Alan Slakman Leads with 18 Left

Alan Slakman of Coral Springs, Fla. picked up A-K at just the right time to bust the A-7 of Richard Davis and the Q-10 of another opponent. The players got their chips all in preflop and Slakman raked a mess of a pot that surged his stack to about 175,000.

He now leads the way with 18 players remaining. Play will conclude when the field is down to 11 players.

Joe Patalano (Wellington, Fla.)
Joe Patalano (Wellington, Fla.)

With nearly 90 players entered through the first four levels, Event 1 of the 2016 Coco Poker Showdown is looking like it will yield a sizable field. While the $130 buy in is low enough to entice novices, the $100,000 guarantee generates some interest among more experienced players as well. Joe Patalano and Richard Davis are among the notables entered thus far.

Both are regulars in the South Florida poker scene. Patalano owns 53 career cashes totaling more than $160,000 while Davis has some solid results of his own including a final table in a WSOP Circuit event at the Palm Beach Kennel Club.

Both players are hoping to beef up their resumes over the next 11 days here in Coconut Creek.
