Matthew Zarcadoolas, Event 8 Turbo Champion

Event 8 was designed to crown a WSOP Circuit winner in one day and the turbo tournament lived up to the billing. Two-time SHRP champ Matthew Zarcadoolas dominated the final table and walked away with his first career WSOP Circuit ring.

The tournament drew 69 entries to create a prize pool over $35,000 and the last seven were set to make some money. Only eight hours after the tournament kicked off, it was down to its final table ten shortly after the dinner break. Zo Karim hit the final table with a slight chip lead but Zarcadoolas took over and was the last one with chips in the end.

“It’s a great feeling winning a poker tournament,” said Zarcadoolas. “It doesn’t matter how big or small it is. Every tournament is tough to win, so it just feels great and I was really happy I got the win.”

That was not the only trip to the payout desk for Zarcadoolas. He returned to The Pavilion for Day 2 of the Monster Stack and was looking to win that ring. He went deep but had to settle for a smaller cash that he rolled over into late registration into the turbo.

“Right after I busted, I took a walk around, I got something to eat and listened to some music,” said Zarcadoolas. “I just relaxed and cleared my mind. I just prepared myself and was ready to go play again. I wasn’t frustrated anymore.”

This continues a great 2018 run for Zarcadoolas when added to his Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown $360 NLH trophy and third-place WTPDeepStacks Main Event final table results.

Congratulations to Matthew and good luck in the Main Event.
