Flight A is flying right along and they are down to 72 players from the starting 347. That leaves eight tables and tournament staff discussed the plans to end the day.

Per the structure, they are set to play 18 full levels or stop when the field reaches 12% of the starters. That magic number is 42, rounding up, and the field will reach that point for the end of Level 18. The remaining three flights will play to that point on the clock unless something drastic occurs like a really fast playing session.

Angelo Miele

A quick walk through the dwindling Flight A field shows a number of big stacks emerging and one of the biggest belongs to Angelo Miele. Miele was in the process of stacking a modest pot he won with a rivered pair of nines and all smiles as he piled his chip on top of one another.

Miele has a number of career cashes here in South Florida and he’s putting himself in position for another with just under 200,000 chips late in Level 12.

Michael Newman

“Loni, we got an hour,” Michael Newman said to tablemate Loni Harwood in regard to late registration in Flight A.

The registration desk is set to close at roughly 5:30pm and Newman and any other player looking to get in on the early play will be cut off from buying in or re-entering at that time. At present, the clock reads 331 in the game and that number shouldn’t go up to much now that Flight B is underway.

Newman has rebought a few times today, but hopes to run up his roughly 20,000 chips between now and reg close. Regardless, the Florida grinder has no shortage of Seminole accomplishments including a title and $374,000 score in Hollywood’s 2017 RRPO as well as a $180,000 score in last month’s LHPO Ultimate Re-Entry event.

The second of Friday’s two flights in the $400 buy-in, $300,000 guaranteed WSOP Circuit re-entry event is underway. This Flight B installment is set to match Flight A with its players taking their seats to 15,000 starting chips and logging 30-minute levels throughout Day 1. Registration and re-entry is available about 10:30pm while play is slated to wrap at around 1:40am.

Here are the details:

  • Players begin with 15,000 in chips
  • Levels 1-18 last 30 minutes; Levels 19+ last 45-minutes

Michael Graffeo

Coconut Creek’s proximity to Hollywood has the two properties sharing some of their tournament player base when big series come to town. Michael Graffeo skyrocketed in the wins column when he took down more than $290,000 in Hollywood’s WPTDeepStacks Lucky Hearts Poker Open Main Event back in 2017. At the time he was new to South Florida but he settled in quickly earning numerous additional cashes and more than $100,000 since then. Graffeo is here in the WSOP Circuit and hopes for some Coco accolades to tack onto his resume.

The Flight A entry count is leveling out with Flight B kickoff just about 20 minutes away.

Players in Flight A of the $400 re-entry are on their second break of the day. Tournament staff is racing off the green chips and cards will be back in the air in about 10 minutes.

The clock took a quick jump up as it now shows 315 entries in the action.

John Depersio

Florida’s John Depersio started last September’s WSOP Circuit Coconut Creek in style winning the one-day $50,000 opener. Depersio is a regular at any Seminole poker series and it’s no surprise to see him jockeying here in Flight A of the $400 re-entry. Depersio is a two-time ring winner — both coming in Florida — and he looks for another during this series.

The upward trend in entries has continued over the early stages of play and the clock now shows 280 in the game.

Kelly Minkin

Flight A of the $400 buy-in, $300,000 guaranteed re-entry event is rolling on and the field is getting more decorated by the minute. With the first break in the rearview mirror, a pair of notable faces are among some of the new entries in the event — Kelly Minkin and Loni Harwood.

Loni Harwood

Minkin has gone deep in a number of high-profile events, most notably a 29th-place finish in the WSOP Main Event and most recently a 3rd-place finish in a $5,000 buy-in WPT event in Jacksonville. Harwood meanwhile is a WSOP veteran owning two bracelet and five rings.

Together the pair accounts for more than $4,000,000 in career earnings and they look to add to that tally here in the WSOP Circuit re-entry event.

Chris Tryba

This marks Seminole Casino Coconut Creek’s third time to host the World Series of Poker Circuit and its second time in the month of February. The property is earning its spot on the poker calendar and the fields have reflected that thus far.

There are a number of pros that we didn’t see on the South Florida felt that we are seeing this year. Among them is Chris Tryba. Tryba trekked to Coconut Creek and comes to the property as a 15-time tournament winner and gold bracelet champion. He played yesterday’s Event 1, but ultimately fell short of a cash.

He’s back on the felt today and in search of a deep run in Coconut Creek.
