Nagui Yassa

Nagui Yassa earned Casino Champion honors during the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood World Series of Poker Circuit following four cashes including two final table appearances. For his effort, Yassa earned a free entry in the season-ending Global Casino Championship where he’ll compete for his share of an at-least $1,000,000 prize pool and a gold bracelet.

As a surprise to no one, Yassa, a South Florida local, is on site at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek and in the game here in Flight C. It’s been a solid start for Yassa as he claims about 55,000 chips with the field trimming rapidly. From 518 starters, just 140 remain.

Joey Alegria

After busting his first entry, Tampa’s Joey Alegria is among the newest re-entry here in Flight C. Alegria, primarily a cash grinder, is one of a handful of players who made the journey from the west side of the state over to the east side for a shot a World Series of Poker Circuit gold ring. Others around from that area include the aforementioned Mike Laake, Event 1 runner-up Bryce McVay and Wally Maddah.

Alegria’s tournament career started hot as he racked up a number of cashes and multiple five-figure scores in his first year on the felt. With his last in-the-money finish occurring in September of last year, it’s been a bit since he’s found a tournament payday, but he’s off to a good start here on entry number two having recently picked up a set and sent an opponent to the rail.

There’s a sea of players in The Pavilion, but it’s Daniel Jones that stands above his counterparts with a stack of 48,000. Have nearly quintupled up over the first two hours of play, Jones leads the action early with blinds of 100/200 and a 25 ante.

Mike Laake fired entries in previous flights but came up shy of a Day 2 berth. He’s back in the game here in Flight C and is part of a growing field that now sits over 340 entries. Laake’s off to a good start, currently sitting with better than double starting stack early in Level 4. Seated to his direct left and right are fellow Florida players Steven Bennett and Zoltan Czinkota.
