Re-Entry Flight A: Walter Bravo Ends the Day

$400 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$300,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 17: 2,000/4,000 with a 4,000 ante
Flight A Players Remaining: 41 of 347

Walter Bravo

Less than halfway through Level 17, Flight A hit 41 players remaining to hit 12% of the starting field. They got there when Walter Bravo checked a Jc8h3c flop and his opponent moved all in for 61,000. It was an easy call with his 8c8s set of eights having AhTh drawing to runners. The 6d turn and Kd river finished the board and Flight A was done for the day.

Kelly Minkin had the chip lead for the last few levels and her hot run. She bagged up a massive 487,000 which is far above anyone else so far.

The chips are being counted and we will have the full Flight A counts later this evening.

Top five Flight A stacks:

  1. Kelly Minkin – 487,000
  2. Haim Toorgeman – 261,500
  3. Walter Bravo – 254,000
  4. Steve Karp – 237,500
  5. William Valladares – 225,500

Bryce McVay

There was an early position shove for 57,500 and it folded to the player in the small blind. He called the shove, leaving 14,000 behind, and Bryce McVay reshipped from the big blind with the bigger stack. The small blind called and McVay found a big blind monster.

McVay: KcKd
EP: AsKh
Small Blind: 7c7s

McVay was in great shape and made the overkill flush on the Tc9c3sJc6c board to send two out and move up to 248,000.

Kelly Minkin

Flight A players are taking their last break of the day with 60 players remaining and the day set to stop when only 42 are still in.

We found two big stacks at the tables and two big names to go with them. Kelly Minkin looks like your current leader with 252,000 and she’s followed closely by fellow pro Steve Karp with 220,000.

SHRP regular Al Gomez is trying to find an early bag

Flight A is flying right along and they are down to 72 players from the starting 347. That leaves eight tables and tournament staff discussed the plans to end the day.

Per the structure, they are set to play 18 full levels or stop when the field reaches 12% of the starters. That magic number is 42, rounding up, and the field will reach that point for the end of Level 18. The remaining three flights will play to that point on the clock unless something drastic occurs like a really fast playing session.

Angelo Miele

A quick walk through the dwindling Flight A field shows a number of big stacks emerging and one of the biggest belongs to Angelo Miele. Miele was in the process of stacking a modest pot he won with a rivered pair of nines and all smiles as he piled his chip on top of one another.

Miele has a number of career cashes here in South Florida and he’s putting himself in position for another with just under 200,000 chips late in Level 12.

Re-Entry Flight A: Loni, We Got an Hour

Level 10: 400/800 with a 800 ante

Michael Newman

“Loni, we got an hour,” Michael Newman said to tablemate Loni Harwood in regard to late registration in Flight A.

The registration desk is set to close at roughly 5:30pm and Newman and any other player looking to get in on the early play will be cut off from buying in or re-entering at that time. At present, the clock reads 331 in the game and that number shouldn’t go up to much now that Flight B is underway.

Newman has rebought a few times today, but hopes to run up his roughly 20,000 chips between now and reg close. Regardless, the Florida grinder has no shortage of Seminole accomplishments including a title and $374,000 score in Hollywood’s 2017 RRPO as well as a $180,000 score in last month’s LHPO Ultimate Re-Entry event.

Re-Entry Flight A: Michael Graffeo Takes a Shot

Level 9: 300/600 with a 600 ante
Flight A Entries: 322

Michael Graffeo

Coconut Creek’s proximity to Hollywood has the two properties sharing some of their tournament player base when big series come to town. Michael Graffeo skyrocketed in the wins column when he took down more than $290,000 in Hollywood’s WPTDeepStacks Lucky Hearts Poker Open Main Event back in 2017. At the time he was new to South Florida but he settled in quickly earning numerous additional cashes and more than $100,000 since then. Graffeo is here in the WSOP Circuit and hopes for some Coco accolades to tack onto his resume.

The Flight A entry count is leveling out with Flight B kickoff just about 20 minutes away.
