Merisier: Ac9d
Gunas: KdQd

Merisier was ahead for another knockout and faded the Jd8c4c flop and 4h turn. The good news for Gunas came on the Qs river and Merisier sent a lot of chips across the table.

Merisier was down near the felt and Gunas eliminated him soon after.

David Gunas – 1,200,000 (24 bb)
Michael Merisier – Eliminated in 7th place ($2,734)

Tanner: 8h8d
Merisier: AcKd

It was pocket eights versus big slick for the second hand in a row and the eights held again as the board ran 3h3s2c4s7s to send a double to Tanner.

Robert Tanner – 785,000 (20 bb)
Michael Merisier – 1,085,000 (27 bb)

Mark Nahama

Mark Nahama open-shoved from middle position for 225,000 and Michael Merisier called from the cutoff. The rest of the table released and they were heads-up.

Nahama: AsKd
Merisier: 8s8d

Nahama needed to catch but it was Merisier improving on the Js8c2h flop. Nahama picked up a gutshot draw on the Qh turn. The 4d river was a blank and Nahama was eliminated in eighth place.

Michael Merisier – 1,800,000 (45 bb)

All three checked the KdQdJd flop and Rosello moved all in for 150,000 after the 6h turn. Merisier released and Rizzo quickly called.

Rosello: QcJh
Rizzo: AdTs

Rosello was behind with two pair versus Rizzo’s made straight/flush redraw and Rosello could not hit a boat on the 2s river to exit in ninth place.

Charles Rizzo – 1,600,000 (40 bb)
Ariel Rosello – Eliminated in 9th place ($1,722)

Rizzo: As9d
Gunas: QcQs

“Oh boy, I’m a lot worse than I thought,” Rizzo said when he saw the hands.

Rizzo hit a piece of the Tc9h4s flop but the Jd turn and Kh river were good for the Gunas double.

Michael Merisier

The turbo tournament was playing along exactly as you would expect. Not a lot of waiting around to get the chips in the middle.

Event 4 reached the money bubble not long after the dinner break and they went into hand-for-hand mode with 28 remaining and 27 getting paid. Nothing happened on the first two hands but there was an all in at each table on the third.

Three of them were called and they went one-by-one until it was settled.

On the first hand, Ariel Rosello was all in for 112,000 with the board reading Kh7h5c8c. His opponent called but he was in trouble with AhAd against Rosello’s flopped set with 5d5h. The river came Qh and Rosello doubled.

On the next table, one opponent was all in for crumbs and was called by two spots. The two live players checked down the KcQh3s5sAs board and Michael Merisier’s Ad4h rivered the better hand against Qc6s and the all in player’s JcJd to send him out.

The last hand saw Danny Calway-Fagen all in for 132,000 with a race holding AhKc against 7s7d. His good news came on the Kd6c2c flop. Calway-Fagen was able to fade the Jc turn and 6d river for his double.

After all the action, only one player was eliminated and the remaining 27 players are in the money.

John Holley

John Holley is in the midst of his 2018 Seminole Casino Coconut Creek World Series of Poker Circuit debut. The Destin, Florida pro is a new face at this series, but is quite familiar with the property where he owns a number of cashes and two tournament titles.

This morning’s Double Stack Turbo is back from first break with a big number brewing. Holley is among a growing field that now sits at 192. We will provide the final registration figure and payouts when they’re finalized some time after 3:30pm and tournament updates will pick up a bit deeper into the structure.

The guarantee was but a blip on the Event 4 radar as the field zoomed past the 100-entry marks and sits at about 150 early  late in Level 5. That puts the prize pool at an unofficial $47,100 with late registration and re-entry available until about 3:30pm.

Gil Aboodi

South Florida regulars Gil Aboodi and Steve McKoy are among those who have contributed to the entry count thus far. Both have recorded wins in their home state, but hope to add a gold ring to their resumes in today’s double stack turbo. Aboodi has already busted his first entry while McKoy is only one deep.
