Championship: Last Level

WPT Seminole Hard Rock Lucky Hearts Poker Open Championship

Blinds 500/1,000 Ante 100

There is a little more than 30 minutes left in this level with just over 100 players remaining as play winds down for the night. We will have full chip counts of players remaining shortly after play concludes. Seating assignments for Day 2 will be posted early morning at approximately 10-11 am. Play will resume at 1 pm tomorrow. Joey Weissman is continuing his hot Lucky Hearts Poker Open run as he has taken the chip lead for today’s flight with over 160K in chips. His foe in last night’s tournament, Harrison Gimbel, is also sitting pretty with over 100K in chips. Chance Kornuth is not far behind and last year’s runner up Lily Kiletto is also among the chip leaders.

Event 12: Still Time To Register

$560 No Limit Hold’Em (Re-entry)

Blinds 100/200 Ante 25

There is still time to register for this event and there’s still quite the overlay as there are only 28 entrants thus far. Will Failla knows a good thing when he sees one as he’s joined the tournament to take his shot. There’s approximately one hour left to register.

Championship: Kornuth Silences Blanda

WPT Seminole Hard Rock Lucky Hearts Poker Open Championship

Blinds 250/500 Ante 75

Bill Blanda came in talking a big game and left in much the same way. “I knew I was ahead but that kid is catching everything,” said Blanda after Chance Kornuth hit a flush to knock out Blanda. Kornuth continues to add to his chip lead as he is approaching 200K in chips early in this evening session.

Seth Berger got lucky, and then unlucky, and was eliminated. He got it all in on a 9 high flop with another player holding pocket 10’s.  His foe had pocket Queens. Berger would hit a ten on the turn to take the lead but a Queen on the river would have his opponent jumping out of his chair yelling “Yes baby!” in excitement while a quiet Berger stood up, grabbed his things, and headed out of the tournament area.

There was a total of 233 entrants – 144 remain. We will have the prize pool and payout information as soon as they become available.

Event 12: Huge Overlay?

$560 No Limit Hold’Em (Re-entry)

Blinds 50/100

There are currently 16 entrants in this $30,000 Guaranteed Prize Pool event meaning we’re well short of the guarantee at this point. There is still plenty of time to register if you want to take part as registration is open for the first 6 levels (approximately 10:15-10:20 pm). Among those playing currently is Jermaine Phang who has two wins at the 2014 Lucky Hearts Poker Open and sits atop our Tournament Leader Board.

In cash games it’s customary to tip the dealer after winning a pot, and you’ll often hear the phrase “red bird down,” when a red $5 casino chip is dropped into the toke box.

It’s something that doesn’t happen in tournament play because the betting units have no cash value, but Will “the Poker Monkey” Souther (Biloxi, MS) is looking to change that.

Souther is a circuit grinder who has $650,000 in career tournament earnings and happily creating good will with the hard working dealers.
