February 8-9, 2014

Entries: 48
Prize Pool: $30,000

Recap

This two day tournament ended with Murad “Malik” Khan (Toronto, CA) and Ronny Beda (Miami Beach) agreeing to an even chop with Khan taking the trophy; both players win $8,861.

Khan and Beda survived a five hour five-handed marathan that lasted nearly three hours. But once Jermaine Phang (Pompano Beach) was knocked out in fifth place, the flood gates opened.

Shana Matthews, who had her QQ cracked by Khan’s set of deuces, finished in fourth place.  The hand gave Khan the final table chip lead.

Howard Hobbs’ (Hollywood) exit in third set the stage for the heads up deal.

48 entries began the tournament that featured a $30,000 prize pool.

Alex Michaels (Miami) finished in 6th place, while Nick Gellepis (Tallahassee), Tim Banks (PEI, Canada), Dennis Rodriguez (Sunrise) and Jay Ramano (Parkland) also got a piece of the action.

Khan is a 39 year-old courier who took advantage of the full Lucky Hearts schedule.  After being eliminated in the Championship Event, he jumped into Event 12 and it paid off in his largest career cash.

Khan, who is vacation with his family in Floriday, likes to escape Toronto winters to play at Coconut Creek and Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood.
