Dmitrii Perfilev

Players are dropping quickly in the Main Event and a lot of that has to do with the massive stack of Dmitrii Perfilev. He has so many chips (3,400,000 and nearly double the double closest stacks) that it is skewing the average stacks to make the rest of the field play with shallower stacks.

We have two tables remaining with nearly 90 minutes left in their day.  They redrew seats and got back underway.

“I thought my seven or six would be live,” Monster Stack champ Mitchell Lekarczyk said when Josh Abady called his all-in.

They were live.

Archibald Barrant, WSOP Circuit Seniors Champion

It took less than 12 hours for the Seniors Event to go from 278 entries to a winner. It was a big turnout for the special tournament and Archibald Barrant outlasted them all to walk away with $13,340 plus the Seniors Event WSOP Circuit ring.

The Seniors Event had a $25,000 guaranteed prize pool and they easily doubled it to put $55,600 up for grabs. The last 30 players earned some money and they hit the final table soon after the dinner break

SHRP regular Steve Ekin hit the final table with only five big blinds but was able to pick up chips and take second place for $13,340. Other notables making the money include Bill Farnan, Greg Spinder, Paula Holder, Richard Leger, Irwin Block, Joseph Levitt, Mack Ham, and David Coughlin.

It was a great way to close out the series. Congratulations to Archibald on his WSOP Circuit Seniors win and the $13,340 payday was the biggest poker score of his career.

Sheddy Siddiqui

South Florida pro Sheddy Siddiqui is making a late run for the Main Event ring. He sent Nashaat Antonious out in 28th place with qhqs against thts to get the field to three tables and he took two more out soon after.

He had the biggest stack in a big three-way pot when his ackc held against Andrew Sutton’s ahqh and Andrey Kotelnikov’s th9h for the double knockout.

That puts Siddiqui in second position behind the big stack of Dmitrii Perfilev.

Sheddy Siddiqui – 1,750,000 (87 bb)
Andrey Kotelnikov – Eliminated in 26th place ($6,781)

Mirco Scharen

Dmitrii Perfilev opened the action from under the gun and Mirco Scharen three-bet to 75,000 from the button. The blinds released and Perfilev thought for a few minutes before calling.

The flop came qdth2d, both players checked, and Perfilev checked the 8s turn as well. Scharen bet 78,000 with 183,000 behind and Perfilev called after several minutes. One last check from Perfilev after the 6d river and Scharen moved all in.

It was another long tank as Perfilev checked his cards several times, gave the stare down to Scharen, and eventually called with his big stack. He turned over 9s9d and it was good against Scharen’s ace-high ahjc to take another big pot. This was the second career cash WSOP cash for Scharen after he final tabled Event 2 earlier in the series.

Dmitrii Perfilev – 2,700,000 (169 bb)
Mirco Scharen – Eliminated in 32nd place ($5,100)
