After the long process of hand-for-hand on the money bubble, the final ten remaining players in Flight A are officially done for the day and guaranteed a min-cash on Sunday.

WSOP Ladies champ Jacquelyn Scott had a great run late and has the biggest bag of those returning from Flight A. Three other top women players also made it into the top ten with Julie McGrath, Jennifer Parker, and three-time WSOP Circuit winner Nancy Birnbaum also moving forward to Day 2 on Sunday.

At the restart, blinds will roll back to 2,500/5,000/500 ante so they’ll get a little play back.

  1. Jacquelyn Scott – 332,000
  2. John Spadavechia – 329,000
  3. Daniel Genachte – 228,500

Even as Flight A slowly moves towards the end of night, there was an interesting hand at Table 17 that got the field one person shorter. Former SHRP champion Mitchell Smith wasn’t in danger of going out but his stack was going to get much shorter when he ran his JcJh into pocket queens.

Smith wasn’t in danger long because the flop came out a very friendly JdJs2c. A good flop for his hand and he pushed Flight A down to 13 players.

The 2016 Coco Poker Open is cruising into the last weekend of the series and finishing things off with a big, multi-day tournament with a lot of money up for the grabs.

Event 13 is a $350 buy-in tournament with six starting flights and a very nice $250,000 guaranteed prize pool. The first flight kicked off at 11am this morning and drew 101 entrants and we expect even more for the 6pm run.

Each entrant starts with 16,000 in their stack and play 30-minute levels throughout the day. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 9 around 10:20 this evening and they will continue to play until 9% of the starting field remains. Those players will be in the money and bag up their chips for Day 2 on Sunday.

If players are unhappy with the amount they move forward, they can try again in later flights and advance their biggest stack while picking up a min-cash for the smaller stack.

Cards will fly at 6pm and continue until they are in the money and moving on.

  • $250,000 Guaranteed Prize Pool
  • Players begin with 16,000 in tournament chips and 30-minute levels
  • Late registration/re-entry available until start of Level 9
  • Day 1 will end when approximately 9% of the field remains
  • All Day 2 players are in the money

Nancy Birnbaum
Nancy Birnbaum

By her own account, Nancy Birnbaum was down to 3,000 chips, but that didn’t deter her. She stuck it out, spun her stack up and now sits on holdings of more than 100,000. The Fort Lauderdale pro is the chip leader with the field sitting at right around 40 players remaining.

Her tablemates are doing their best to combat her, though. Birnbaum is a member of the Blue Shark Optics team, and as such, has a signature pair of sunglasses with the company — a pair two players at Birnbaum’s table just so happen to be wearing.

Event 13 Flight A: Registration Closed with 101 Entries

$350 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry) $250,000 Guaranteed

Level 9 is here and registration is closed in Flight A of the $350 buy-in, $250,000 guaranteed Coco Poker Open Event 13. The first of six flights drew 101 entries. Per the structure sheet, they’ll play down to 9% of the field rounding up meaning play concludes when 10 remain. Those still in contention bag and tag set to return for Day 2 Sunday at 1pm. If anyone chooses to play a subsequent flight, they have the option to advance their best stack forward.

Event 13 Flight A: Field Approaches Triple Digits

The clock has been stuck at 99 entries for some time. With registration and re-entry available for about 30 more minutes, that number is expected to grow a touch and see the final Flight A attendance figure hit triple digits. While that’s still a touch shy of the 139 needed per flight to hit the guarantee, it bodes well for the event with Friday and Saturday’s flights expected to be the biggest.

We’ll take a closer look at the field size after registration closes and the numbers are finalized.

Martin Robbins
Martin Robbins

Level 5 is here and the clock shows 83 entries. Antes have now kicked in and the chips are prepped to starting flying. The first couple hours of play were fairly slow with a handful of big stacks emerging, but no one told Martin Robbins that. He turned his 16,000 starting chips into better than 55,000 and leads the way midway through Level 5.

One of the other tournament big stacks belongs to Jacquelyn Scott. Scott, a local realtor, is a regular on the Florida felt and owns more than $200,000 in career earnings.

Notable stacks following break:

Martin Robbins – 56,175
Jacquelyn Scott – 43,375
Javier Sarache – 21,200
Stu Paterson – 20,675
Michael Newman – 6,975
Jonathan Hilton – 6,250
Charlemagne Benjamin – 5,425

The field continues to tick up as Level 4 is freshly underway. After a modest start, a total of 71 entries are now in their seats jockeying for a piece of the $250,000 guaranteed prize pool. That number is expected to grow even more by the time registration closes at about 3:30pm.

The first break is right around the corner and we’ll take a look at some of the early big stacks at that time.
