Brandon Kalgstein is the most recent Coco Poker Open Champion following a victory in Event 6, a $100 buy-in Deep Stack Turbo Bounty, at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek Sunday night. Kalgstein needed barely six hours to maneuver his way to the final table and come out on top in a four-way chop. The Sunrise, Florida amateur held the chip lead with 650,000 and earned $1,665. Nesly Jean-Baptiste was second in the counts and scored $1,575 while Susan Krowitz held 299,000 and pocketed $1,241 and Paulius Bikus’ shortstack was sent with $940.

Despite marking Kalgstein’s first major tournament cash, he remained composed throughout the event. He took the chip lead to the 10-handed final table and even as stacks shallowed he didn’t blink. He was calm as it took just 45 minutes for the event to narrow from 10 remaining to the final four. In fact, he grew his stack by more than 200,000 in that time. In the end, his steady play was good enough for a title on his home South Florida turf.
