Coconut Creek, Fla. (January 27, 2016) — Orlando’s David Prociak earned the top spot in Event 7 of the Coco Poker Showdown Wednesday night at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek. The outright victory came in a $240 Omaha 8 tournament and earned Prociak $3,740 along with a much-deserved win.

Less than two months ago, Prociak finished runner up in the Rock ‘n’ Poker Open $3,500 Championship. While the deep run sent him home with a $330,000 consolation prize, it didn’t quench his thirst for a title. Following the score, he stuck to the grind and tried his hand in a few other events. His trip to Coconut Creek paid off not in the way that the Rock ‘n’ Roll’s did, but in a different, more satisfying, way.

“I really didn’t expect to do so well lately,” Prociak said following the win. “It really feels good to actually win a tournament instead of coming in second or fifth or whatever. This is way lower [than][Rock][‘n’][Roll], but it feels really good right now.”

Prociak’s win came at the hands of a small, but tough, field. He brought the chip lead to the final table and watched as Hoyt Verner busted 6th, Howard Luckman 5th, Joseph Patalano 4th and Brandon Berkendfeld 3rd. He carried his advantage all the way to heads up play against Claudangelo Beaudouin. It was only a short time before Prociak got the best of Beaudouin in a couple key pots and eventually busted him second for $2,350.

Prociak is 33 years old and resides in Orlando, Fla. Although now he own his own business, he spent time as an online pro prior to Black Friday. After a few year hiatus, he’s returned to the game in a big way.

“I decided to come back maybe three months ago — out of the blue. I just wanted to start playing poker,” Prociak said.

Since October of 2015, he’s recorded nearly $400,000 in tournament earnings over the course of six cashes. The Event 7 win marked his second victory.

Event 7 final results:

1st: David Prociak – $3,740
